  • I can't help but to echo the similar experience as Hulkwarriors, as above. However I was in Cardiff Odeon.
We were all packed in, as they were expecting a good turnout - 95% full.
The place got hotter from the moment the film started.....it was almost unbearable by the end of the film. Also endless people kept going out to the toilet.....clearly they kept drinking, as it was so damned hot!!!!!!
Several people left before the end....
I did enjoy the film....but as it went on and on and on....... all i will probably remember is being desperate to leave.
Johnny Depp fan or not......the film was 30 minutes longer than it needed to be!
There's no excuse for not having the air-con on, as I watched another film there recently at the same screen and it was a lot cooler!!!!!

BTW i have sent an email complaining about this to odeon. As free or not it was a horrible experience. Fingers crossed for some freebies.

  • It doens't matter if it was a free screening or not the fact that it is so hot is flipping inhumane i was supposed to go to the cardiff one but my mum went instead and she said there was a woman packing in all the seats from the back downwards that would have annoyed me becaue i hate being told where to sit especially when you have rubbish eyesight, glad i didn't go now. Hope that the Bruno screening tonight is better might be as that's in cineworld.

I saw Sunshine Cleaning in the Cardiff Odeon and they didn't bother with the air-con there either. It wasn't very nice because I was really hungover from the night before and the last thing I wanted was to feel all clammy and breathing in hot air for 90 minutes!!

On a side note, the two cinemas I've been to are really slack on the security/ticket checking side of things. They barely even check the ticket (infact the guy in Cineworld didn't even bother to unfold the folded A4!) and both times they had no 'list' with the peoples names on. It's unbelievably easy to fake these screening tickets - not that I'd do it! :rotfl::D

Just back from watching Public Enemies at Greenwich.

Had security on the door asking everyone to switch off their mobiles - which I did, then turned it back on as soon as I walked in.

The film was a huge letdown, a sentiment shared by the 3 people I went with. It was just over two hours long, but felt like five. It was far too slow, and I found myself constantly wondering "is it nearly finished?"

The security at our showing were really quite intimidating! I too was very disappointed by the film, I really wasn't bothered about any of the characters and just found myself wishing I was at home watching the tennis! The only thing that kept me going was knowing that at least I hadn't paid to see it!

I usually play football on Monday's but cancelled to go to this film... big mistake.

I expected so much more from a Michael Mann film.

I was blown away by the trailer and I'm astounded to find the reviews that have been posted, but grateful for them at the same time.

I didn't get the chance to acquire free tix - no Odeon here.

However, I've been a fan of Mann's since Miami Vice (not the film, though) right through to Heat, The Insider, Collateral, etc.

Perhaps the heating was turned up in an attempt to emulate the previous success of Heat - lol, but just used in the wrong film.

Still really want to see it. I can honestly admit that I was probably one of the few who liked Kaufman's Synecdoche, New York (others walked out of the cinema). So, since I've got an unusual taste for movies, then I hopefully might like Public Enemies. I would really like to.

  • turned up at bruno screening. got turned away. tickets not valid. what !!!!ed me off we spent around £15 travelling to cinema + a further £6 in queue after buying drinks/snack. Apparently there were issues with the 1st batch of tickets printed. But our names were on it. I know they sent an email about it weeks ago but it got into my junk mail, and I only just found it. About 30 of us at Brighton got turned away. Grrr....

I was another who was unable to print my Bruno tickets at the time of recieving them, counting on them being emailed to me. (They definately had all the details on, I was stung originally with the invalid tickets but managed to get some on a different code a week later). I emailed SFF today asking for them to be reissued and got an instant reply saying they were sorry I hadn't got tickets on this occasion but they'd keep me on a reserve list, obviously thinking I was referring to my original invalid tickets. I replied saying I had been issued real tickets and quoted the code and date I'd received them on - no reply.
So I couldnt go :( Never mind though I thought, just one of those things...
But then about 10 minutes ago I get a text asking me how the film was!! Talk about rubbing salt in the wound! Needless to say the reply wasn't very friendly.

Bargaindoctor - sorry to hear you got all the way to the cinema before you found out but the invalid Bruno tickets topic has been discussed a lot on this thread and the email was posted to the codes thread twice I think.

sorted out some tickets and made it in to see Bruno at west india quays, but security was so tight! they checked your ID three times, and before you went into the screening they checked ur bags also and made sure your phone was turned off. Also security wouldnt except change of name tickets with an email. The name on the ticket had to be of the person attending with their ID.
