Another one here who enjoyed State of Play this morning. Went to the Bolton Sky screening and the cinema was probably only a quarter to a third full if you put everyone together. Would definitely recommend the film.0

We too were lucky enough to see it this morning, long film but good despite my dislike for Mr Crowe
Lots of twists & Helen Mirren was great as always"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0 -
No tickets left for Montana with the sky offer....

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has ever had their ID checked or if they have ever had their name checked off against a list at the cinema?
I can't make a screening tomorrow so want to give me tickets to a friend to go in my place.
Thanks for your help....0 -
I have never had to show any ID at any of the cinemas in Sheffield. No-one has ever checked my name against a list either. When I couldn't go, at short notice, I gave my printout/tickets to a neighbour, together with my library ticket, just so that they would have something to show with my name on if asked for ID. Hope this helps.0

I've not posted in the Codes thread because I haven't actually got one (and that would just be annoying wouldn't it?) BUT...
HEAT magazine has got a code for Star Trek - for next Tuesday, the 28th at 6.30pm...which also means it overlaps with the Coraline screening.
Just thought I'd give you the heads up.0 -
Does that include yourself, when you use a SFF code that has been posted on MSE but has actually been published ONLY in Cosmopolitan magazine purely for Cosmopolitan readers that have mostly spent money and purchased a copy of the magazine ?
It's quite possible that the free preview screening was targetted specifically by the film distributor/promoter at a certain group of the population to gather the appropriate feedback - say perhaps mainly females aged 20 to 50 years old.
Maybe the film distributor/promoter knows that Cosmopolitan has a circulation of 150,000 and that generally only 1 out of 100 readers respond to an offer of this sort. At 2 tickets each that's 3000, so they organise with SFF that the Cosmopolitan code covers 20 cinemas at approximately 150 seats per screening.
That code appears on MSE, every Tom, !!!!!! & Harry, and their friends and families, and Uncle Tom Cobbly and all, dive in and grab all the tickets.
The genuine Cosmo reader/buyer can't get a ticket.
Then Tom, !!!!!! & Harry et al, fail to turn up at the screening.
The Cosmo readers dip out, SFF get shouted at because all the tickets have gone because the cinema is FULL (but at the actual screening it isn't), the film distributor/promoter loses out because it's not seen by enough people or the by the wrong sort of people for both the feedback required and the word of mouth advertising that is expected.
Let's stop this abuse.
I think I'll write to SFF and suggest that the next time there is to be a Cosmopolitan (or similar magazine) code for a preview that they don't bother with the "online code redemption" and make the tickets ONLY available by redeeming a coupon that's in the magazine,(so you'll have to BUY a copy of it) and that it is exchanged for genuine tickets for that particular screening at the box-office of each and every cinema involved before the day of the preview.
That'll stop it !
And a code that many on MSE would have taken advantage of, won't be published here and hundreds of us will dip out !
Now that's a plan and must be a step in the right direction.
I didn't write obviously, but it's happened.
For the Heat magazine code for Star Trek
On seefilmfirst where you select your cinema ....
Special Information
Because we anticipate intense interest in this screening,
and to protect the tickets for heat readers,
you will also need to bring this page (or the mag) on the night,
plus ID showing that you are the name on the ticket.
so if you want these - go buy your magazines !
