I think Culture+ must be giving tickets to their London members before the code comes live online. Otherwise it has no explanation what just happened!

Please note that you MUST now bring the page from the newspaper with you to the screenings. If you do not have both the newspaper page and a print out of your reservation confirmation with a valid Booking ID you will not be admitted.

    Hi all,
I have just got back from watching State of Play at Leicester Vue.
    Screening quite full.
    Film started on time.

I loved it. But then it is just up my street. A cross between All the presidents men, Pelican Brief and Law & Order.
I cannot remember the TV series/version, so I don't know if it developed/showed the relationship between the Affleck and Crowe characters more.
Also, what happened to the police/FBI ? Never saw them after the first third of the film. Lots of holes in the plot - and my 16 yr old thought it very confusing, but a solid 8.5 out of 10 from me. I couldn't believe it when my son commented it had lasted 2 hours. I could easily have sat through more:o
I would love to see it again, and would even consider paying .
I would definitely watch it when it comes out on DVD.

Can I stress at this point I don't even like Ben Affleck, never really have. Too pretty, pretty for my taste - so it isn't as though I was ogling him either;)
Crowe didn't look particularly attractive - apparently the part he played was supposed to contrast his looks, lifestyle and achievements against those of Affleck - his old college friend in the film !!
Really getting to enjoy watching Crowes films.

I too did not realise until the credits that the film had been a BBC drama - just googled the BBC drama of State of Play and saw that it was originally set in UK.

Enjoyed the film despite my initial reservations that I might not follow the plot! OH thought the plot was a bit too simple, but he has had more practice in following plots in films like this!

Thought the casting was very good and agredd that the 2 hours went by very quickly.

Yes i remember State of Play when it was the BBC drama very popular in it's time, i thought the film was brilliant Helen Mirren had some witty one liners and Russell Crowe was brilliant that scene in the garage had me on the edge of my seat. I went to the Tellten screening in Cardiff which wasn't packed but qute busy in the Odeon, my mother went to the Sky screening in Cardiff which was in Cineworld and her and her friend had the cinema all to themselves lucky things i wish i had opted for that one now.
