Include/Exclude forums

I have no idea if this can currently be done or not but this site is just too successful (for obvious reasons) and I can't keep up. For quite some time now I have selected my 5 favourite forums and scanned down the most recent posts to keep up to date.
Is there anyway to 'include' my 5 favourite forums in the 'new posts' option (so I have all 5 forums in one list) and exclude all the other forums.
Thanks

I use IE 7. I have a tab for each of the forums I like and then click on the favorites menu, and click on "add tab broup to favorites".
If you then click on the favorites centre (the first star underneath the File/Edit etc) this will bring up a list of your favorites. Clicking on the folder which has the 5 forums in will open each forum in a new tab in IE.
Doing it this way allows you just to go from one forum to another effortlessly. Just a suggestion. My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
This is not as an ideal a solution as being able to customise the "new posts" feature via the forum itself, but it should work (maybe).
Have a look at the forums you are interested in and make a list of their forum IDs (numbers) from the address of the link to that forum.
For example, the link to this board is:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=50
so it's forum ID (number) is 50.
For the sake of argument, say that you select 76 (Debt Free Wanabee), 50 (Site Feedback) and 12 (Loans).
Once you have a list, then make a new bookmark in your browser with this address.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search.html?do=getnew&include=76,50,12
Change the numbers separated by the commas to suit the boards that you want.
Then you can check new posts on those boards simply by using the new bookmark in your browser.
Seems to work OK for me at the moment (I think). I haven't experimented with it very long.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Nice one fermi.
And also the OP could add &pp=70 at the end of the address, so you'd get http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/search.html?do=getnew&include=76,50,12&pp=70
This would show 70 posts on the 1st page. (Although this was gotten from you originally!).My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
That's excellent, thanks very much!!!!
I have noticed that if I put &pp=70 it does as you say put 70 posts on the first page but the second and subsequent pages revert to &pp=25. If I hgad the choice I would default to 100 posts on any page.
Thanks for your help - and an excellent website!0
