  • Fact is that the poll is fundamentally flawed (deliberately to provoke opinion?) - like most things in life there is no clear cut right or wrong outcome...the poll does not reflect that.

    So why did you vote?

    a) it's a free country, innit? ;)

    b) voting is not incompatible with my earlier statement. Political elections in this country are flawed, but hopefully we still vote...

No, Credit Cards shouldn't be banned. Just because some people can't manage their finances, why should those of us who use credit cards sensibly and to our advantage be penalised?

All the people I know who can't manage a credit card are the same people who can't manage cash either.

Blaming credit card companies doesn't wash either. No-one forces people to sign up to a credit card. If they choose to abuse or misuse credit cards then they should accept responsibility for their actions like adults and stop blaming everyone but themselves.

  • Credit cards are a bad thing.
We live in a society where people are "rewarded" for borrowing - finances are a juggle which can come crashing down at any moment, and these companies make it difficult to pick up the pieces. We lost a £12k wage when OH had to give up work due to depression. Tried to claim on the PPI, were told "we don't pay out for depression" ...

Now just about GettingThere (hence the name) after long struggle. Not out of the woods yet, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. And for once it's not some git with a torch bringing me another bill!

Credit cards? Simplify terms & conditions/small print, give responsible limits which people can afford, stop charging people the earth for making human / unavoidable mistakes. Let us all once again take pride in our actions and not in our credit limit!

    Hi
Credit Cards should not be banned... they should be BURNED.

Let me put it this way... you all want to ADD DEBT and PAY the lender an extortionate amount of interest from YOUR future income to sort out your current DEBT problem? WOW. I must have missed the page where they explained THAT one.

    Cheers. Bob.

  • I'm not voting. I don't think credit cards are a bad thing - nor do I love my plastic (although I think it's OK). I have big credit card debts (c £20,000) which I'm trying to pay off but I can't blame anyone else for them. They are my debts - no one forced me to take them on. While I understand that sometimes people can be overtaken by unforeseen circumstances, deserving of special consideration, there seems to be a widespread tendancy to transfer blame for debts. I can't see any excuse for that.
  • I totally agree with Molesworth and i didnt vote either.
