Of course they shouldn't be banned. And banks shouldn't ban people who don't know how to use them - who else would pay for my 1% cashback?
  • Credit cards are a bad thing.
Yes – Credit Cards should be banned and outlawed. They are the epitome and essence of all that is Evil in our modern society. :p They’re one of the many Tools of the Vested Interests and Robber Barons – banks, various financial institutions, shops and stores.. et al….

The Robber Barons employ Educated People whose sole job is to plan and implement Wily Ways to glean every last penny from the Public thereby keeping them in debt and penury and wretchedness…. Be afraid…. Be very afraid… the World needs more Fraids….. :D

Thank you thank you thank you

repeat the chant to banish the evil ones.......

    Credit cards are evil
    Credit cards are evil
    Credit cards are evil
    Credit cards are evil
There are many paths to tread to find true financial enlightenment, some of them are clear of obstacles, others have huge piles of doggie DooDoo in them in which one can easily tread. The journey is not made easier by the fact that the financial institutions blind fold us before we set out on our route.

    I love my plastic.
used properly credit cards are a flexible tool to manage your debts while you repay them or obtain a cheap personal loan or to gain rewards for spending. I wouldn't say "I love my plastic" is entirely my view of them, but I certainly wouldn't want to be denied the option of taking out plastic if it meant that i could handle my finances more strategically.

Or dull and predictable, given your starting point, depending on peoples' viewpoint.

Fact is that the poll is fundamentally flawed (deliberately to provoke opinion?) - like most things in life there is no clear cut right or wrong outcome...the poll does not reflect that.

Credit cards are useful to those that can pay the balance in full at the end of the month but lethal to those who find it difficult to control their spending or don't bother to budget. For me i wish i'd never let the bank persuade me into having a credit card in the first place.

    I love my plastic.
I was too busy looking after my business and neglected to pay Halifax Card over December, my phone was red hot!! They added charges and late this and naughty boy that, I paid up when I had the opportunity and the phone stopped ringing. Credit cards should be banned.

if you hate them that much why not cut them up?

Agree - all of our credit cards are on DD for a full payment every month, and always have been - I have been lucky enough always to have been able to pay off in full.

I have a credit limit much higher than I need (about 20,000) - this is because I travel abroad a fair amount, and knowing that I have financial backup to cope with just about any situation is a comfort... e.g. one time in Singapore, both wife and I needed operations on same day! About 6,000 pounds, but being able to pay with no quibbles. (and claim back on insurance later) was useful.
