BT Broadband

I have Option 3 , have been with them for several years and apparently have free anti-virus and firewall thrown in. I've emailed them and wasted an hour of my life in a queue to their customer service but had absolutely no joy in getting an answer to this question:

Am I currently protected or do I need to download any software? (I've been with McAfee but my subscription has just expired).

No one I've spoken to knows and have simply stuck me in yet another queue to speak to someone else. The response to my email -which took 3 days - consisted of a phone number to ring ("Please contact 0800 800 150 who will be only to happy to look into this case and deal with asap..")

Any BT broadband customers on here who can help me better and faster than BT can?

I'm option 3,think the firewall and Virus software is if you use their portal software.....never used it myself

Prefer my own choice of Free Anti-virus , Firewall , anti spyware etc

What's their 'portal software' and how do I use it?

think it's there on the disks that come with the site...I would'nt install it !!

it's caused numerous problems with peoples PC's in the Past and takes overyour machine like AOL

better to use standalone protection of your own...look over in the Techie part of the forum for free ones
