The technology to "save" us is already there, its just cost effective for the super conglomerates and governments to keep this a secret until the last possible minute.
Personally I feel mankind would be far better off if a global pandemic raged for a little while. A kind of reset.0 -
Presumably if it didn't include you or your family?Darth_Marty wrote: »

I had a friend at collage, he always said that he would have wanted to be in Vietnam, as long as he came back of course, maybe with a small flesh wound that would attract girls.
As long as I come out of it OK, I happen to agree with both of you.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

I set up a space station for genetically perfect couples that cannot be viewed on RADAR. I flew all the couples out there and then tried to release a poison that I engineered from an orchid that would only kill humans and leave animals and plants untouched. After a couple of hundred years the plan was to then return to Earth, which would be an Eden by that stage.
It was all scuppered by that damned James Bond fellow. :mad:Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Do women find flesh wounds attractive? Perhaps that's where I went wrong during my single days. I should have been self-harming to attract the ladyees.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

That is so true. My DH did his PhD in energy in the early 90s. He worked on a way of converting low grade coal to methanol and proved that it was possible to do in a much more energy-efficient way than previously believed. At the time, there was little demand for it as the big companies were decidedly anti - it would have put their existing technology out of business. As a result he now works in a different field and technology didn't move on at the pace that it should have done, the same story could be rolled out across thousands of talented PhDs.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Back in the late 80s I had to write a project about oil for my a level chemistry.
All the reference material I found predicted a rapid reduction in oil availability by 2001.
Worst case, we can always mine the landfill for plastics and burn them."Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves." - Norm Franz0 -
I saw a program on Hydrogen Fuel cells where the techie guy reckoned we could all replace our boilers with HFC's powered by electricity. The HFC would convert our tap water to hydrogen which would then be burned to heat water and power our central heating and domestic hot water needs.
The obvious next step would then be to have solar cells on our roof (once the efficiencies have increased) to generate the power for the fuel cell. Not sure about this one, but the HFC idea sounded pretty good. The scientist bloke said all we need to implement it is a local source of electricity and water, both of which are already supplied in our homes.
We just need to generate electricity from nuclear, wind, tidal, hydro and other renewable sources and we would have solved the fuel crisis.
Yay!!

Or if GB starts printing banknotes by the lorryload as suggested elsewhere we could burn them.
I recall seeing a photo of a notice from a Zimbabwee karzy on the web - it requested patrons not to use banknotes as they clogged the sewers - how long til our public toilets have the same notices (if there are any public toilets left of course as they seem to be a favourite target for council costcutting rather that cutting out twinning visits etc. etc.).0 -
Since fuel cells produce electricity then if there is a "local source of electricity" the fuel cell is rather redundant.Dithering_Dad wrote: »I saw a program on Hydrogen Fuel cells where the techie guy reckoned we could all replace our boilers with HFC's powered by electricity. Fuel cells are mooted as a possible replacement for gasoline for vehicles not for domestic heating.0
