its all a load of nonsense
Ive never heard of them when buying a car, so its a scam
If they offered a good service you would pay after any sale0 -
These are common scams. I think autotrader documents this type of thing somewhere on its website. Do not give them any money, i'm still getting calls from a company called car data offering a similar service. It wouldn't be so bad but i sold the car 3months ago. Also told their staff to p!ss off at least 20 times, but they keep calling.....so now i just wind them up and waste their time.0

I sold my 1990 Volvo Estate GLE on eBay before Xmas for £470. I had owned it for 2.5 years, done 15k miles in it (mostly useful trips using the load space) and originally paid £500 for it. The nearest equivalents were fetching £100-200. I lost £30 quid on a car in 2.5years, ok in percentage terms maybe no so great but in the big scheme it was bangernomics in action!
The key to this success? Pictures and detail. Something Autotrader are rubbish at. Get as many digi photos hosted for free on somewhere like villagephotos, then use that to generate the html code for an image gallery and add it to you ad in the HTML tab. Sounds complex? It really isn't if you can copy/paste and post on here. You'll get a ton of free pics on your ad, circumnavigating eBay fees (completely legitimately) and a ton more bidders who have more confidence in your car. I even went as far as putting a YouTube video on there. Buyers buying unseen are nervous and so keep budgets tight, the more info you give them then the more their budgets losen. Oh and photo everything, history, V5 (though ensure details are clearly visible), keys, behind the wheels, tyres, engine, exhaust, scratches etc - be as honest and up front as possible. You'll then surpass all previous amounts for similar cars sold on eBay. Oh and don't forget to set your buyer requirements to get rid of the muppets and write some wordy T&C's to ensure you get paid.CHEAP doesn't mean ETHICAL0 -

This man talk sense, i sold a xantia i owned for a yeyar and did around 70k in for 300 less than i paid for it via ebay
I took lots of detailed pics of everything, seats, controls body work, radio, wheels, engine etc
Every thing you could see was photographed
It literally took 2 minutes longer to take 50 photos than it did to take 5
Well worth it0 -

I have put an ad on gumtree to sell my Peugeot 206 yesterday and today I received several calls from Motplaceuk and an other similar company.
Feeling that there was something dodgy I did not agree to pay anything up front.
and LUCKILY so. I checked this and found your posts.
Thank you all for warning against this scam!!!0 -
Go to www. motorplaceuk .org (note the .org its not the company they are .com click onto the forum to see comments about the company.jubarnes26 wrote: »Hi all
I am trying to sell my C4 and was gonna put it on ebay tonight after a failed autotrader ad over the xmas period.
I've been phoned today by a company called Motorplace UK who say they have buyers looking for my type of car, it would seem they are a car finance company they provide the finance and find the type of car you are looking for.
Then they ring the seller and try to get them on board promising to match your vehicle with buyers until sold for the sum of £49.95 which, if the buyer takes out finance with them I will get the money back.
I can see the logic in this in that they are not really after my fee it's the loan they will make money on but obviously they need to match up cars otherwise they are not offering a service to the buyer.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone on here has any experience of them good or bad and could offer me some advice.
I am very keen to sell my car asap.
Thanks in advance
