Hi
After using this website alot, i have finally deceided i would register. Thanks for all the help previously.
I am going to nyc on the 22nd January for 4 nights. It has been booked for over 2months now.
I got a suspicious looking email from wsteirhoff@expedia.com stating the hotel had cancelled my booking and i need to contact them on (list of numbers) regarding a re-arrange. Below is the first email.
Greetings from Hotel Partner Support!
The Edison Towers Times Square has contacted us in regards to your booking with them. Unfortunately the hotel is unavailable and will not be able to accept your reservation. Due to these unavoidable circumstances, the hotel has made alternate accommodations for you at WooGo Central Park - Tempo Apartments.
Please call our Hotel Partner Support Department at 1-866-430-4981, as soon as possible to let us know you have received the information regarding your new accommodations so that we may confirm them with the new property. Does this look legitimate. After emailing expedia they have no record of the email address.
I questioned the email with a guy from Hotels.com and he said that he woudl send an email from hotels.com but the address was an expedia address.
I'm really worried as to what is going to happen and cant get a straight answer from anybody. Any suggesstions?
Thanks for all your help.

Probably legit. Hotels.com are part (a trading division of) of expedia inc0

Thanks for the reply. Are they allowed to do this?
They have taken payment from my card and now only offered me a cheaper hotel. Can i suggest any hotels that i would like to stay in instead of the cheap 1 they offered?
Its very annoying considering i am travelling in less than 2 weeks0 -
personally, i'd demand a refund, as the woogo apartments are bluddy awful..
what are your exact dates of travelling? i'll see if i can find anything suitable
doing a quick search on hotelconxions, shows that the edison is available for random dates in january0 -
Hi Paul,
I would be a little concerned if I were you. I have just checked the hotels own web site and it is showing availability for your dates i.e. 1 double room $694 and 1 twin room for the same price. There is better (suites etc) but the figures I have quoted will give you some comparison with what you were paying Hotels.com. Put your requirements into Trip Advisor and that will bring up all the different prices and availability and go from there. I know its very disappointing to get news of a cancellation like this and I hope you get fixed up. Sally0 -
yeah it is ligit
however I wouldnt stay here either I would ask for other alternatives to this
They have to offer you others or you have the right to cancelI am a Travel Agent

Paul,
If you don't know about trip advsior (www.tripadvisor.co.uk) this web site is really reliable. From memory, I think the Millennium Broadway gets good reviews, but if you put the hotel's name into the search facility (don't forget to also add New York City), it will come up with reviews from ordinary people who have stayed there. Have you been put off your original hotel? As of this afternoon, they did have availability for your dates and that was booking direct with them. Sally0 -
Millenium Broadway - 129/412
Edison Hotel - 228/412
WooGo Apartments - 240/412
I'd grab the millenium, though still not as high as my preferred NYC hotel, the cosmopolitan, but hotels.com don't do special rates on that...
Cosmopolitan Hotel - 111/4120 -
i managed to book the sofitel hotel for no extra costs. I've definitely decided to stay away from hotels.com in the future.
They are also sending me $100 voucher through the post for the inconvenience
Thanks for all your advice guys0
