Please, please don't worry, no matter what you are among friends! Plan your table beforehand - set it up in your living room if you like! It helps if you price everything individually or display a list of prices (a lot easier!) You'll find generally people will say nice things or nothing at all so don't worry about abuse! What is your craft? whatever you make, you have to believe someone will buy so just give it a go - I do kids parties as well as craft fairs and find them much more daunting! ;)
Life's a box of beads - rainbow coloured and full of surprises!:D
  • Hi ev1...

I am new here and just trying to figure forums and evthing out. I am in Newry, Down. I make costume jewellery and sell online. I am dying to do a local fair but can't seem to find any info on any fairs.

Any help or info on craft fairs would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi folks - Im trying to get my diary sorted for November DEcember and am frustrated by the lack of fairs in Belfast leading up to Christmas!! There seem to be LOADS in places over an hours drive from Belfast - what has happened to all the lovely school fairs and church fairs that we have attended in past years? Does ANYONE know of any in Belfast/Greater Belfast other than the very few listed so far in this thread. Also - WHY are there about 10 fairs on 28th november and why are so many of them outside??!!!! We can only do 2 at once and our crafts are ruined by being outside in November DEcember!!!.... FEELING VERY FRUSTRATED!!!
Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T

I know Rudolph Steiner School in Holywood do a summer & xmas craft fair & they charge £35 per table. I have connections to the school & explained to them other places were charging £15 - £25 a table. I do hope they take this on board as previously it put off crafters that I know. Phone them and try get table down to £15 - £20. They would deft attract us then. It's a lovely set up and they would do well if they keep costs low.

I also found it very daunting. Would they buy my crafts! So much to get ready! Make a list what to bring! OOOOH! Stay calm, do organise your list, prices, and just GO FOR IT! I am still weary on run up but hey! no matter what we sell it gives you ideas what people want and then gives confidence to move on to the next one. Please don't worry, bring a family member along with you to help you sell. Comfort & they may have ideas as well. Good luck I'II look out for you at fairs.

I agree acraftfreddie - I did Steiner last year at Christmas, and didnt do brilliantly, but it was worth it for the atmosphere, which was fantastic. However, if the stall was £20 or £25 I would definitely do it again and that would help my profits too. I agree £35 is too much. We didnt even get offered tea and coffee at the last one!
