  • I've been using openoffice for a while and find it very useful. I was wondering if anyone knew of a similar free programme for editing digital photos

  • Just noticed people are mentioning that you could download OO - just a suggestion that many of the magazines have OO on their free CD's / DVD's which may save time or download limits.

As you can get some of these on the 3 for £1 mag offers, makes it double benefit (sometimes a good read too!)

I originally obtained OpenOffice this way, but do watch out because the magazine CDs tend to have out-of-date versions of the software.

I have ditched MS office and have been using open office for about 2 yrs, that said most of the text processing i do is latex based.

There is a thesaurus and spell check, by default the thesaurus only works for us english, but this will sort that out, well worth the effort for the 300 punds you will save!

Thumbs up for open office from me!

I do have Open office, but sometimes find it a bit cumbersome. My PC came with MS Works, but I got rid of it. How would OO compare with MS Works for basic home word processing, etc?

I believe the London Borough of Newham, East London, has officially adopted it to replace MS, St John's Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex, also use it. It's not as pretty as MS.
