can i unlock my orange phone ?

hi all
i have an orange contract phone and i have just cancelled my contract as since i moved house in feb 08 i have not been able to get a signal at home
i am locked to orange and just wandered if there is any way that i can unlock my phone without having to pay
my son has a vodaphone phone and he gets signal so i would like to go with them
is anyone can help id really appreciate it

    Most if not all phones can be unlocked. Depends whether it has to be paid for or you can do it yourself. If you have a nokia phone then you can probably unlock yourself using the guide to unlock nokia on the board. If not then need to pay £5 or more to have it unlock by a market stall/shop.

    the phone is paid for by me and it is not a nokia it is a sony erriccson
    if anyone else can help that would be great
