My dog has a VERY sensitive tummy, she has seven seas cod liver oil in a bootle form tescos, its very good and she has no problems, she is a very big dog and has a dessert spoon full,so if you have a smaller dog just give a bit less.0

The other thing you could try is a magnetic collar, there are a variety of brands but IME Bioflow is the best especially if it's just generalised stiffness.0

I give my 14 year old dog Vetvits Flexi Joint. He had a bad back leg and would limp after walks and lying down. I saw a real difference within a couple of months. He hardly ever limps now, even in cold weather.

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.0 -
Too much cod liver oil can cause liver disease through an overdose of vitamin a. It is far safer and more effective to use a dog version of glucosamine and chondroitin0

I spoke to my vet about cod liver oil as we have been recommended to give glucosamine. Apparently cod liver doesn't get into the joints as well as glucosamine - gives a great coat though!
I am looking to get some vetzyme

2010 was the worst year ever
But 2011 so far has been a lot of fun! :j

re: cod liver oil and too much vitamin A ; this is because the liver contains a lot of Vitamin A. Cod oil (made from all the cod) or Salmon Oil (made from all the Salmon) has the same benefits but with a better balance of vits.
And I wouldn't want to start a huuuge argument, but in my opinion and that of my previous dog chiropractor, magnetic collars won't help with arthritis. The magnet increases blood flows (blood contains iron), and arthritis isn't improved by increased blood flow. Magnet therapy DOES help, I am positive, with many problems which are helped by extra blood flow but arthritis is probably not one of them! Of course if there was underlying problem as well it could help that. I hope I don't start a riot saying this!
And I worshiped glucosamine (etc) with my last greyhound. Its fantastic!0 -
Would a diet made for older dogs contain more of whatever you are trying to supply by supplement? Some breeds especially large ones seem to be elderly by about 5 or 6.0
