This appears to be a problem specific to Scotland.

Down here in Clevedon (near Bristol) it is stacked high with meat and frozen goods.

I don't go in often now.
The offers are not as good and I found that they overcharged me virtually every time I went.
No customer services so you either put up with it or have the inconvenience and embarressment of holding up an entire queue of people to get it rectified!
Added to that the manager at my local is really ignorant!
  • Maybe in the empty shops there are staffing issues to do with illness, not vacancies?

My local (north west) had plenty of stock out in freezers and chillers.

    I doubt it.

I only suggested this as my local Asda has that very problem. Many staff having to do lots of overtime to provide a lower than normally stocked store.

Doesnt explain the whole freezer section being bare but other things are ok. And it's every store in Edinburgh not just one.

Variations up and down the land. Just goes to show how we expect uniformity these days.

Sheffield Halifax Road branch and virtually empty freezers and meat when I visited Sunday. Fridges were noly half-full. The problem with this is that if you have to go somewhere else to top up your Lidl shop you might as well save your petrol and not go to LIDL at all,
