are Lidl struggling?

I noticed in the last half of 2008 Lidl were getting a bit more expensive, less good offers, and the last few days this year their freezers have been pretty empty of meat and they haven't really had any great new unusual products in like they usually do every Monday. I wonder if the Euro price has been affecting them?

Might depend on where you are in the country. A lot of Lidl's fresh stuff comes from Scottish suppilers. Scotland were on official holidays for both New Years Day and Friday 2nd so the stores might not have had deliveries over that period.

I'm in Aberdeen, and the Lidl beside me has had no meat OR bread OR milk. Hope they get supplys in soon!

Yesterday I went to Lidls in Beckenham,Kent and everything seemed as normal, loads of people and loads of stock. No idea about the meat although at the tills people had meat in their trolleys.

Our Lidl is pretty packed as usual, plenty of frozen and frozen stock and some good offers every week as always :)

I'd suggest that if your store is lacking, it's probably a staffing issue, I'll bet the store rooms are piled high with stock waiting to be put out.

Been to a few supermarkets since the NY in Scotland and all of them had fairly bare shelves

Cant be staffing, I applied to all 5 Lidl in my area a couple of months ago and none of them wanted me. Ended up at Sainsbury's.
  • I went to Aldi on Monday - no fruit and veg and no chilled meat left on the shelves - perhaps it is just more people are choosing to shop at the cheaper supermarkets since Xmas.
