Leaving Computer on overnight

I would agree with that Rex, but don't see any point in embers view that putting it into hibernation overnight saves anything.
In hibernation the PC is still ON. If it's on it's both using electricity and is a fire risk. I don't like fire risks while I'm sleeping full stop! That is why PCs, TV etc go off at night in this house.0 -

Hibernate mode writes an image of what you're currently working on to a special file on your hard drive, and then shuts your computer almost completely off. It takes a bit longer than Standby, since it needs to write to your hard drive. Hibernate also takes a bit longer to resume, since you must go through essentially the normal boot process, although in Windows XP your computer wakes faster from Hibernate than in previous versions of Windows. The advantage is that you can leave your laptop in Hibernate mode for days without any ill effect. When you start it back up, you'll see everything exactly as you left it. Hibernate is the perfect mode for shutting down for the night or even the weekend

But the power supply is still live as it is when you shut down normally. Almost all PCs since around 2000 are only totally off when switched off at the mains.0

I'm getting a headache reading all these posts. Think I am just going to 'hibernate' most of the time but if away for any length of time I will shut down totally.
I think that is taking into account saving on power usage and also playing safe with fire risks.~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
