best option for heat

ok so before you all have a go, i know there are a lot of threads like this but none of them answer my question.

i have a very old central heating system in place (from approx 1975)
it runs 7 radiators which are not controlled by a thermostat. so its all on or none on.

so far this year we have been using a halogen heater 1.2kw in just the room we are in.

my question is whether it would cost a lot more if we were to use the gas central heating which would obviously heat the whole house ?

any help would be great
trying to lose 3 stone by end of 2014;)

Why don't you just valve off all the radiators except for the one in the room you are in?

It depends how often and for how long the halogen heater is run, and how often and for how long you intend running the central heating.

As said above, all radiators can be turned off even if they don't have a TRV.
