I use the bags that cereals come in, just slit down the middle and trim to fit the trays (got an Excaliber one), they probably aren't as good as the proper all singing dancing liners but it works well for me especially with the fruit leathers ;)

I am ready to get going with my dehydrator again. I have made massive use of the mushrooms, baking apples, onions and peppers that I dried 2 years ago and now the store cupboard needs stocking up with them. I have made fruit leathers and dried all sorts in the past but the above 4 are those that really earn their money for me.

Has anyone seen any sign of reasonably priced bramleys, peppers and onions yet? we pick our own mushrooms but not until october or so

Thinking about buying a dehyrator mainly for apples. The prices seem to vary from £27 (Westfalia) to £100s.

Can anyone recommend a make and model?

I follow The small cottage holder blog and she recently bought the £27 Westfalia model and swears by it.

Oops only just noticed this pop up again. Fruit leathers are dead easy, I generally mash all the fruits I want up together in a blender, sometimes add a bit of fruit juice or water, then spread the mix out quite thinly on your sheets (the proper sheets, waxed lining paper or cereal bags) then dehydrate ;)

Happy Anniversary, IIRC Kathlicos over on the grocery challenge has one so you could perhaps ask her for advice.
