Thank you. I've not been overly impressed with PC world, so I'm not sure how much weight I put in what they say.

I looked up Eset Nod32 and from their website, I don't see where they are a publically traded company. The same goes for Kaspersky.

I've been trying to get onto the Avast website for the past half hour and I keep getting a message the IE can't display the page. That doesn't give me much confidence in them.

So, if a company isn't public, who regulates what they do?

I just want to be sure I make the right decision here; it's a very important decision to make. Thanks for you help.

Kaspersky and NOD32 are the most renowned anti virus programs in the 'paid for' group
As for Avast, it works fine for me

Your other option is AVIRA (Also free)

Seriously, you cant go wrong with ANY of the above programs (Unless your machines ALREADY infected! In which case you might struggle installing them)

  • I use Cyberdefender anti-virus. I got the free anti-virus scanner first off there website (https://www.cyberdefender.com) which found a lot of stuff on my system and got rid of the spyware and Trojans. I also had viruses, so I bought the upgrade which got rid of everything on my system. I also found that the paid one came with 24/7 computer help, which I used twice and they were very helpful. So, for me, Cyberdefender works great.

if thats true mate, id recommend you start a new thread and check with MALWAREBYTES on a full scan and then post a HIJACK log.
