Is Cyberdefender a good anti-virus program?

I see several threads on here about security programs, but I'm wanting some help about Cybedefender as anti-virus protection.
I got a couple of viruses in the last month, even though I had Norton anti-virus on my system and AVG – both were installed on my system by someone else. So, I am looking at anti-virus programs, I want to pay cuz my experience with free software has not been all that good. I looked at a few and liked Cyberdefender and PC Tools. I saw this how to activate video on Youtube:

I liked that Cyberdefender seems to be a more complete package, covering anti-virus, trojans, spyware, id theft protection. PC Tools, also had a nice user interface.
I do know Cyberdefender is a NASDAQ public company, but is it a good anti-virus program?

As ive never heard of it, I would advise against it
Id suggest PC TOOLS FIREWALL and AVAST or AVIRA anti virus:idea:0 -
I would never pay for av no need to its really all about common sense. I run Avira'commdo firewall'superantispyware.Stay away from dodgy sites and you should be ok. I'm with aliEnRIK on Cyberdefender stay clear.'HAIL HAIL' :dance:0

There speaks a person who knows nothing.
To the OP
Eset NOD32/Smartsuite or Kaspersky. Both about the same price and the same level of protection. Both have 30 day free trials.Conor

If you want to purchase one, Kapersky and Eset NOD32 seem to be very well regarded by many.
As for Cyberdefender, I've never heard of it.0 -

all 3 rated it a ONE out of five!:idea:0 -
How's about this for a full, free security suite:-
1. avast antivirus (rather than avira as it has an e-mail scanner that works
)
2. Malwarebytes antimalware (on-demand scanner)
3. CCleaner
4. Spyware Doctor starter edition (some real-time spyware protection)
5. super antispyware (on-demand scanner - becoming a fan again recently after re-trying it)
6. PCTools firewall (credits AlienRIK for this one, not tried it myself yet
)
All free, no system resource hogs, and between them all will pick up pretty much anything thrown at them........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

whilst Avira doesnt scan emails direct (Although when I used it, there is some form of an email option, Ill have to look into that further)
It WILL stop the virus in its tracks should the nasty file be opened (Which is actually hardly any different from it being an email scanner anyways! AVAST stops it when its being downloaded. AVIRA stops it when its opened):idea:0 -
Thank you. I've not been overly impressed with PC world, so I'm not sure how much weight I put in what they say.
I looked up Eset Nod32 and from their website, I don't see where they are a publically traded company. The same goes for Kaspersky.
I've been trying to get onto the Avast website for the past half hour and I keep getting a message the IE can't display the page. That doesn't give me much confidence in them.
So, if a company isn't public, who regulates what they do?
I just want to be sure I make the right decision here; it's a very important decision to make. Thanks for you help.0 -
