I'm positive.
I changed my BT Calling Plan just over a month ago. No change in CPS status. My recollection from the past is that such a change leads to some paper communication from the suppliers. Obviously you haven't received any so it might be as well to pursue the matter. If you contact BT they can tell you whether there is CPS on the line.My calls were CPS and I recently took out BT,s Free Rolling Contract Evening and Weekend Call Plan and now all my calls go through BT, none go through my CPS supplier,and i have not cancelled them.Their is therefore no way i can place calls via my CPS supplier.0 -
I've always wondered if BT would do something like this when switching to the Free Weekend plan, so I have never bothered. Looking through the terms and conditions i can't see anything that specifically says any CPS on the line would be removed.
I am not surprised that the CPS is removed, as other people have said it is about "Bring your calls back to BT" which implies any other routing will be removed.
I think the best option is to stick with Primus as the CPS for the free weekend/evening calls, and leave the BT account on the basic rate.0 -

Yes, that's correct.I thought the Free Weekend plan was the default option with a BT line rental whether you had CPS enable or not.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
BT has also withdrawn the 1280 facility so that you cannot route calls through them, even though you use another provider for calls via CPS0

A number of Call Providers have started to make changes to the way that they provide calls to their customers. These changes will affect the services that BT is able to provide directly to some customers. So, we're contacting customers that may be affected to inform them of the changes.
The biggest change will be for customers that use the 1280 prefix to make calls that are billed by BT. Customers that previously used BT's Call Barring services may also experience some changes.
Dialling 1280 before a call
Many of our customers dial 1280 before a call to benefit from our low call rates for certain types of calls eg 0845 and 0870 numbers. Some customers also use this route to make the necessary quota of calls to receive BT Caller Display2 and BT Answer 15713 service at no extra cost.
If your Call Provider makes these changes†, you'll no longer have the choice of making a call that is billed by BT and as a result you may start to pay for BT services that you previously got for no extra cost eg BT Caller Display2 and BT Answer 15713. You may also see an increase in the call bill that you receive from your Call Provider.
Please be aware that calls prefixed with 1280 will connect in the normal way, but the call will be billed by your chosen Call Provider rather than by BT.
My reading of this is that BT have not wishdrawn 1280, but some CPS providers have restricted it.0
