PMS Challenge Instructions.

Welcome to everyone to has joined us during January :hello:

To answer some queries from the January thread:
Doing quite well so far with coupons and bogofs. Earned a lot with Asda's bogof offer on Glist with the money off coupons inside as well. got my cashback credit card statement today and it's the cashback anniversary. Can I add the cashback saving to my pin money savings as well as it's money I wouldn't ordinarily get? Or doens't that count?

Yes :T is the simple answer ;):D

so if I carry on and keep under budget the difference is Pin money yes? I've had a £5 sale on eBay so I can add that too? And what about the saving by listing all my stuff yesterday on a 5p listing day? (I probably posted more than I would normally but it is all stuff that needs to go). And I have saved £2.30 on offers

Another yes :T

It is now coming up for our 11th month of Pin Money Savings (how time flies!) :j Hope you are all enjoying the Challenge and look forward to reading about your savings :D

    Excellent idea.

This is the positive side of OS moneysaving. The side that makes moneysaving visible and the mountain easier to climb

    Welcome kittie :)
Yes, the PMS Challenge is a very positive aspect of Old Style Moneysaving and it's amazing how the little savings here and there soon add up.

Haven't been out to "spend" any money so any savings I have made since posting the Challenge on Saturday are definately "virtual" instead of "actual".

Decluttering a cupboard yesterday, I stumbled across a number of plastic storage tubs (freezer and microwave safe) that I had completely forgotten about.
I'd recently written out a wish list of items I need to buy at some point and as tupperware type storage tubs are on the list, I've now 'saved' myself the expense ;)

I've calculated £10 as a "virtual" savings for those. So, not a bad start to the month ... even though it is only virtual.

Finally hit the sales today - I'd been 'planning' it since I first saw the items back in the Autumn. Needed them then, but deferred until the sales, then deferred again hoping to get the most for my money from the final reductions. And I did ;)

Bought 22 items of winter clothing. (Jackets, jumpers, jeans, pj's, long sleeved tops etc.)

Original selling price total = £460
    Sales price: = £140
    Additional discount = £ 14 (10% discount earned from a promo)
    Budget: = £200
    Final price paid = £126

    Therefore: "Virtual" saving = £334 (£460 minus £126)
    "Actual" saving = £74 (£200 budget minus £126 spent)

+ paid for items on Tesco Visa so I will earn some points on the £126 (have to find out how much that may equate to in "voucher" value)
+ the £126 on the Visa will remain in the bank account for 6wks and will also earn a small amount of interest. (Haven't calculated these amounts though).
+ the items are really thick, warm clothing that we will wear indoors and thus the heating can be turned down a couple of degree's which (eventually) will lead to yet another saving.
(Haven't calculated the additional one's listed as I'm not sure how).

Queenie - great finds!!! Thanks for sharing your calcs with us. I reckon you'd get 126 Tesco cc points for spending £126 which is 4 x value in cc Deals = £5.04. (Also, noticed you'd been in Debenhams - did you use a Nectar Card as well?).

Well, I'm just setting the February target for me. Need to get aPMS to AT LEAST £75. Would be happier with £100. Which, I reckon means ebaying at least 2 x 12 lots. I'll let you know how I get on. Will do prep work over the w/e for the first set, so I'll get a headstart for February's pms.

    Have fun, everyone. ;)

 Don't have a Nectar Card :o :wall: Note to self: investigate Nectar

:T Cheers for the headsup on that omega and also for converting my Tesco points :T

Best of luck with your target and ebay sales. :):):)

The amount of clubcard points you get on Tesco Visa depends which type of creditcard you've got. I've only got a "normal" (as opposed to a Finest one) and for anything not purchased in Tesco, you get 1 point for every £2 you spend. So, if you didn't buy any of your clothes at Tesco, I think you should get 63 points, which will give you £2.52 in clubcard deals.

If you want to double-check this or see how Tesco calculate creditcard clubcard points, this is the place to go: http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/finance/creditcards/clubcard_points.html

    Hope this helps

I can only do Virtual. Haven't quite got the hang of Actual - cos any savings I do make end up in my purse for pocket money for the kids and stuff!
(And chocolate, but dont tell anyone!)

Am going to start ebaying a little more seriously. Haven't really committed to it that much so far this year. But as we have a Holiday in Easter thanks to Mr T, I am aiming for £50 Actual for spending money.

Virtually, will stick to £40. Managed to keep it at around £40 using bogofs and coupons in Tescos

What I need is a lockable tin with a hole in the top for money and give the key to someone else. Can't spend it then! (and no one else can pinch it!!)

Planning on changing home phone and broadband this month, so will use Quidco (although I know its not PIN until I get the money!)

Last month had a bonanza on eBay from a declutter and made £125.12 (including £8.49 savings). Plus I came in £50.52 under budget. My goal was to buy a slow cooker - in the end managed slowcooker plus a breadmaker and got a favourite chair renovated - and what's left over is going on my tax bill!

This month have reduced my budget by £80 and don't have so much left to sell but am setting a PMS challenge of £50 - to go towards modernisation project on new house (should buy paint for a couple of rooms!).

    Good luck everyone

My continuous pot now has £172.90 in it. Still have no idea what it's going towards. Probably a flat when I can aford it.

Penny and 5p pots are also doing well, as any pennies/5ps from pin goes in there.
