HMV and returns

hi,
I purchased two CD's from HMV online on the 14/12 - they stated that anything bought before the 18/12 would be dispatched before Christmas.
I got no reply to emails etc
One arrived on the 24/12 and the other yesterday ... I had to rebuy them from Sainsburys in the end as they were gifts for Christmas. I returned both today with (at a cost of £2.35 for recorded second class) and a note as directed on the website - I have sent another email re returns etc and complaining about the poor servive - still no reply.
I guess they will eventually credit me back but what about the postage? I'm really quite annoyed at them for all this as I thought I had 2 presents sorted and then on Christmas eve I had to go a rebuy them (at greater cost too).

Think they will credit you the postage.I would expect and demand it.0

did they promise to deliver before christmas?
worth bearing in mind next year, either buy it in store, or further in advance online.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
mmm I wont be buying from them again period. They did promise and it was 4 days before the deadline. If they had apoligised (or even replied to any of my emails) then maybe I might feel differently.
How can I get them to reply to my emails?

Well the 1st one certainly was dispatched before Xmas and the 2nd one could have been as well.
You have to feel for companies when customers get what they order and still cry because they left it too late.0 -

err no I dont at all, they arrived too late to be given as gifts (the whole point of buying them!) as I rebought them by the time they finally turned up. I ordered well in time of the deadline and they didnt fulfil, they have also no bothered to respond to any emails - that indicates rubbish service and why I wont be buying from them again.

You ordered for items to be dispatched before Xmas. They did this with one probably both.
If you wanted them in time for gifts you should have ordered them in time for that to happen.
Its not exactly rocket science.
What did you think "dispatched before xmas" meant:rolleyes:0 -
The thing is, many other online retailers can do it so why couldn't HMV
Quite frankly if they cant supply someone else will!!!, They know people will order last min over the Christmas period and should have items ready to go straight out and be sending stuff at a decent postage speed, and how many emails did you get saying "there is still time to order" i was getting them still on Christmas eve, i even got one Christmas day, which i was a little surprised at.
I think 4 days before deadline is more than acceptable, if they provide an unacceptable service they should expect bad feedback and to reimburse. Its dog eat dog, and we consumers expect faster and cheaper, if you cant keep up you get eaten.
A big thanks to all the comp posters for their effort0 -
OP- The problem here lies with the words "dispatched" and "delivered" - two totally different promises. HMV are Channel Isles based so it does take a little longer for goods to arrive. I ordered items from them and they took about a week and that was mid-December.
HMV normally send emails to say when their orders are sent out - did you get these before that 18 December deadline?0 -
I worked for HMV fior a while a few years ago, and generally thier service is second to none. They were quite strict about returns though because they have to stop people copying CD's and then bringing them back - I think given the situation described here they would probably be sympathetic and have probably not replied to your e mail yet because they are so busy at Xmas/January Sale - I would say if you hear nothing go and speak to the Manager of your local store to see if they can help - good luck!0

i use hmv online a lot and love it.
in regards to the returns, as the poster above mentioned with copying cds it is harder to do returns but all the cds i have bought from them come in a cellophane wrapper, if this is still on then it should be able to be returned and the full amount credited as it has not been tampered with and obviously not copied.0
