LOL, it's a private auction - normally sellers only use those for embarassing products like adult toys and male enhancement pills

It was an upsetting programme to watch.
But this is what is happening as we speak...
You find yourself, With no Job, No Money, Then no Car etc.
Then some 'SMILING' Bailiff comes and takes your possesions away in an hour!!
They LOVE their job too much!:money:
I wander if they (Bailiffs) will ever end up unemployed, Or come home one day and find their Wife/Girlfriend has ran off with their savings or indeed someone else??
It's happened & it happens.
I know I would wipe that smile off his face.
Just for the principle of it.
Police can't get involved because it's a 'civil' matter.
Anyhow, Police haven't got time and I would say it was self defence.LolThomson 757 Man0 -

It was the locksmith that was smiling for the camera not the bailiff! xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Its not nice for anyone to get repossessed, but a lot of people bring it on themselves through recklessness, stupidness and a few that have had real bad luck, but to be honest all the people on this programme, by thinking could have avoided the situation.
1. Man never had a steady job so they should have stayed renting.
2. He should never have had a mortgage at 11% and they should have stayed at his partners house.
3. They just borrowed and kept on borrowing and it looks like they never actually spent anything on the house, and it was more on campers and motorbikes, its obvious what you have of the banks loan wise you will have to pay it back.
These could have all been avoided, there was not anyone on this programme who had lost his job and that is why they were going to be repossessed, which i could understand and accept, but these three familys have just behaved stupidly whether it was jointly or a individual from each family, but after watching the programme they brought it all upon themselves.
Having said that i did not like the way the locksmith was gloating, with a big grin on his face, mind you im sure some one will wipe that off his face if they see him in the local pub.

Yeah, I can agree with some of that.
When I was a 'Meter Reader' I obviously visited different properties every day.
But what I always noticed was - If it was a house on a Council Estate or a house that looked 'Dilipidated' there would always 95% of the time be a nice 'Shiny' car outside, Then when I went inside you could guarantee to find:
1 - A big state of the art TV & Video and sometimes Sky Tv.
2 - Top of the range Computer.
3 - Expensive Clothes & Toys.
3 - People smoking heavily/ Or packets of 'Cigs' on the kitchen table.
It used to make me 'Laugh' at how can these people live in a Council House or a house in 'disrepair' and have all these Luxuries?
Some people's priorities are all wrong and paying a mortgage or the rent is not in the top 5 priorities?Thomson 757 Man0 -
Did I hear "GE Money" getting a free advert on the Beeb?
The following thread might be of interest to those of you wanting to buy the repossessed properties and get them back into financially responsible hands.

first time i've seen the amstrad superphone called "fancy".
you can get them at car boot sales for a quid. that was the least of their problems!0 -
I bet there will be few programmes that allow as many posters to gloat in other peoples misery as this one.
For all the spurious assumptions about gym memberships, Amstrad Plasma telephone thingys, vehicles and hair highlights - the MEW's really didn't seem to have much for £110k extra debt.
It was all just a bit depressing that people can get themselves into such a mess.
It did reinforce all my prejudices about mortgage brokers and financial advisers though!US housing: it's not a bubble

Watched the programme.
Couple one, looked like they'd been given to large a mortgage with the income they had. He didn't look the smartest in the world, but you could see that they weren't partying on down. In this situation I'd have to say the lender must take a big part of the blame, as it was obvious that they would not afford it after fixed term. I felt some sympathy with them and feel that the lenders and whoever arranged the finance stitched them up.
Couple 2 the mortgage advisor, as a mortgage advisor then the blame for getting into a pickle with a mortgage must rest with him. Also when he needed some coin, why did he not sell his new car, looked like a pretty new vectra, reckon he'd have got a good few grand for that.
Couple 3, didn't have to much sympathy with them really, when you start out with a £40k mortgage and end up with £140k and you blame costs of refurb when your a builder there's something wrong. They have never in a million years spent £100k on refurb that house, the finish was basic, and would have cost £20k at most, if he's a builder/electrician/etc. So what did they spend the money on, they claimed fees, I don't think so not that sort of money.
