Synopsis:

In 2008, nearly 50,000 families had their homes repossessed. But the crisis is far from over, and some predict that another half a million homes are at risk, as Britain heads into a recesssion and families struggle to meet their mortgage payments.

Filmed over eight months as the housing crisis tightened its grip, Repossessed is a powerful, intimate film about three ordinary families battling to save their homes.

It`s a very depressing subject. Lots of it around in the early 90`s.

Although it's inevitable as prices crash and unemployment rises, it's a terrible thing to have to go through. It's a timely reminder that 'All good things end'.

I can't watch.

I was viewing repos in the 1990's and it was truly heartbreaking. Kitchens ripped out (on HP? to stop squatters?) and carpets cut down the middle (by upset reposessed owners? ) Just so much sadness. I can't watch the media revelling in it (having revelled in prices rising) It just makes me sick. It's not sensational reporting - which is what they make it. It's real life and real people.

Some will have over stretched by a long way. While I don't have sympathy for them, it's not news, it's a risk they took.

Some may appear to have been really foolish, but I don't blame just them.

The banks were throwing money at borrowers. Did a day go past when an invitation to take out yet another credit card didn't fall through the letter-box?

For so many it was the way everyone lived and wasn't questioned, especially for those who hadn't lived through the 90s, didn't know any other way of life and never thought the good times would end. It was more a lack of knowledge and awareness, because who would ever knowingly have put themselves in the position of having to go through repossession. I think it just shows how uninformed so many people are.

The government, if they weren't just totally naive about it all and where it was going to end, just tacitly colluded.

So there are no winners amongst the general population. Everyone has been let down.

half a million?? sounds like made up numbers to me, but i agree, i cant watch programmes like this. i do think the media love something dramatic, with israel, hamas and the recession they must be wetting their pants

I earn 36k (single) and I have no intention of getting a mortgage thats any more than 600 quid a month...and that will be without any debts other than car insurance etc....

Why would you want your bad fortune screened. I know I wouldn't. 15 minutes of fame I suppose.

me too, im on sort of the same but because im a temp i dont get paid when im on leave or off sick,, i take home about 1800 a month and my mortgage is 560 per month, i couldnt see paying any more than that
