Whos good and who isn't?

My contract with pipex runs out next month, i am paying £29.99 a month at the moment for broadband, line rental and free calls to 01 and 02 numbers 24/7.

I am wondering if it is worth changing or staying with pipex, i have never had any problems with them and the internet access always been spot on.

I'm with O2 for my mobile phone but out of area for their broadband packages.

Any advice will be greatly received.

Thanks x

O2 broadband is fantastic but you may get a good deal from pipex (retention offer)If your happy with the service your getting it may be worth seeing what they offer if you say you want to leave.

Looking into Sky at the minute at the minute i pay 29.99 a month to pipex for line rental free calls and broadband then pay sky 18 a month for my sky package.

Looked at sky and can get everything from them for around 35 so thinking this is the way to go. But just read a few stories on here and its worrying me a bit, although my mate signed up with them before christmas and she didn't have any problems with them.
  • cheaper isnt always better.
have you called pipex to see what you can get as a retention deal?
Its hit an miss with sky some are happy some are not same with any other provider.
If your happy with you service side of things then pipex will be desperate to hang on to you so should offer you a good deal.

Pipex are rubbish! Please TIGs - if you know what's good for you, you will leave them and run off to another ISP.

I was with Pipex for 2 years where I suffered very low speeds and awful customer service. I plucked up the courage to leave them in Aug 08 last year and I have to tell you, it's the best thing I ever did. I used to pay £25.99 for broadband only. I'm now with o2 pay £9.79 and my speed is 100 times than what it was before! (Honestly that is how low my speed with Pipex was!)

I wouldn't fall for any of their retention packages, if I were you. They offered it to me and I was like whatever. THey are known to agree to a retention package but then charge you whatever you were charged before and then you are locked in another 18 month contract with them. And it's hard to get a refund or even any response from them. You'll be left feeling frustrated. I'm still currently awaiting a refund from Sept 2008 and to this day, I still have received nothing. And I'm no longer their customer! And I know several customers experiencing the same as me, some are actually worse off. Very rarely I hear a good feedback on Pipex and those are customers who never had to contact Pipex about anything anyway.

I would suggest o2. I will tell you I have had problems with their internet in terms of pages not loading but its still 1 million times better than Pipex especially for the price. Download speeds are awesome! I can download a 350MB file between 5-15 minutes and on a bad day 35-45 minutes. With Pipex, it would take me three days!

That's my opinion anyway... You will find that I've left Pipex a bad feedback whereever I go...I honestly cannot loathe a company (except perhaps Barclaycard!) as much as I do with Pipex. If I were rich enough, I'd offer to pay your broadband for a year just to get you to move! That's how much I advise against leaving Pipex!

Best of luck with whatever you do.

Good ISP's are IDNet, Zen, Fast.

None of them are the cheapest, but they are the best.

    Try a comparison based on actual user feedback here;

  • I used to be with pipex for a couple of years then got fed up with all the problems with there server and not being able to get onto the internet and also their frequently unobtainable customer services/technical support. Changed to F2S, and after one month with them, found out they'd been purchased by Pipex and a short time later Tiscalli ended up owning the lot.

Today as I write, I've had numerous problems with f2s/tiscalli since october and worse in December and now all sorts of problems trying to access my emails. I can't even get through to their technical support - guess the lines are jammed with angry customers like me!

So at present I wouldn't recommend f2s/tiscalli/pipex. In fact I'm looking to change and will look at 02, any other isp that have been recommended by happy users.

Feel a bit better I got it off my chest! BUT Still can't access my emails

Incidentally, anyone had any luck claiming for the days they've not been able to access their email/broadband from their ISP, since I've got a monthly contract and paying to have access to broadband/emails and they're not meeting their end of the bargain?
