Thanks for the posts. I think that now we have decided to keep back my girlfriends uni loan repayment and add that to our pot we need to update our total amount saved, which is probably in the region of £65,000 now. Obviously not all of this will be used as a deposit though. We have started the shopping though - all the essentials, especially in a kitchen, really mount up.0

Well we have our appointment with our mortgage company this afternoon to confirm everything and sign all the paperwork. I'm a little bti stressed by it all as its such a big step and all quite new to us, but will report back later. I think we have everything we need........0

Thanks for the posts
On the up side we have our survey being done this Tuesday which should be interesting. I know somebody that lives down that road in a similar property who mentioned some things that he has had to do to the house that may also affect this one. We shall see if the survey picks any of those things up.
On the down side I have had an almost permanent headache since we signed the mortgage papers last Tuesday. _pale_0 -
Good luck with your new purchase. :j
We are at about the same sort of stage as you, our survey was carried out today and fingers crossed our solicitor should receive all of the paperwork tomorrow.

Thanks for the post blunt_crayon.
As for our progress, we have just received our copy of the survey back and it is all good news. No big problems or significant issues, just your average bits and pieces to complete over time.
So now on to the next stage............ whatever that is?!0 -
Well I have just received the contract to sign through the post; along with an example water bill, questionnaire on the property and a list of items being taken/left behind. I'll need to have a read through but I think we're getting quite near now!
I dont think they make all of this wording very easy to understand for people who havent done it before though. I'm lucky I'm 'fairly' switched on and have researched on here for some time but many people must really struggle.
Anyway, time for some serious reading........0 -
No masive update this time. Everything seems to be 'going through' (though I have no idea what exactly takes so long).
As it's my girlfriends Nan's house we have been round there for the past few days in the garden sorting loads of things out. We are lucky that a good quality greenhouse, shed and chalet are staying so we're currently uncovering these from weeds!
Planning to update this thread with pictures when we're a little bit further down the line. Still dont want to 'jinx' it with photo's before its actually ours!0
