Nokia 6124c - satnav???

OK, I have a nokia 6124, used to have a nokia navigator. the new phone has GPRS, but doesn't seem to have the sat nav facility of the old phone. I was led to believe I could use it for sat nav. Can I add this facility/software to the 6124? If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be ever so grateful! I've gone mad searching the internet! Maybe I've bought a useless phone.

I take it you mean GPS rather than GPRS ?
It doesn't look like it can do sat nav, there's no GPS in built and there's no bluetooth to connect an external GPS unit to the phone.

Ok, forget that, it does have Bluetooth, you need a bluetooth GPS module (about 20 to 30 quid) and the Symbian version of Tomtom and you're sorted. . .
  • Thanks for replying! I've gone to the spec page on the vodafone site, and if I click on the GPRS section, it says 'built in GPS navigation'. Does this mean I just have to buy and download the symbian software from somewhere? Is there an easy way to check if it does have GPS? Actually, what's the difference between GPS and GPRS?! Sorry, thick girly here!

Thanks so much for your help, I've been going mad. Oh, and any idea where I can buy the Symbian software from?!

OK, confused now !! (not uncommon).
The Nokia site doesn't list GPS in the spec ? So I guess this must be a Voda version of this handset.
So, if you have GPS built in all you need is the software to take that data and overlay it on a map.
There is a Symbian version of Tomtom, this works really well. My son uses it on a old 6680. All you need to to is to get a copy and load on to the phone and you're off.

You can get from a number of sites, pocket GPS world is one I use ( http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=71198 ) but there are others. If you google symbian and tomtom you'll find loads.

    Hope that helps. . .
  • Super star! Thanks a million, I'll try to work out if the phone has GPS, and take it from there. It's a corporate supplied phone, so maybe I'll ask one of the IT guys, or go into the vodafone shop - they should be able to look at the phone and tell me?

Thanks so much for all your help!
