Free Hotmail in Mac Mail

I have a free Hotmail account that I would like to use in Mac Mail however it wont work as Microsoft want you to pay for the privilege to use email clients. Is there any work around that is good and free to use to get it working. Thanks. I would rather not change my email account.

Yep POP3 is now free with Hotmail, but I actually think the HTTPMail plugin that MartyJ mentions is better, as you can see any Hotmail folders you have in Mail.
I use Yahoo POP and all I have is the Inbox. I've also got GMail with IMAP and these days I think that's the best approach.
