Free Hotmail in Mac Mail

I have a free Hotmail account that I would like to use in Mac Mail however it wont work as Microsoft want you to pay for the privilege to use email clients.

Is there any work around that is good and free to use to get it working. Thanks.

I would rather not change my email account.

Windows live mail supports hotmail accounts. It's very similar to Outlook Express and Windows mail in Vista.

    Download it from Here

    System Requirements

    Operating system:
Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or later, or Windows Vista
(Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is not supported.)

I'm assuming the OP is running MAC OSX and is therefore unable to install and run Live Mail.

OP - I would recommend that you get yourself a google account. https://www.gmail.com

I assume you're talking about using Hotmail with Apple Mail, in which case the HTTPMail plugin should work for you.

Thanks for the HTTPmail plugin, I'll give that a go.

Regards to changing email provider, I'd rather not at the moment as its too much hassle.

  • POP access to your Hotmail account is now free of charge, here's the details you'll need;

    POP server: pop3.live.com
    POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
    SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
    TLS/SSL required? Yes

    Enjoy
