ipod Nano Advice needed

I'm thinking about purchasing an ipod nano, but I'm not sure if it will be compatible with my computer....
My PC is about 6-7 years old, and is Windows 98SE. It has USB ports but due to it's age, I'm guessing it's version 1.0 rather than 2.0?! Saying that, I bought a USB hub recently and on it's box it does say that the hub is compatible with USB 2.0.
Hope someone can clear this up for me.... sorry if this post is in the wrong place!
Thanks,
K

My girlfriend got a Video iPod for christmas and her PC only has USB 1 ports but it works. It's a bit slow but not painfully slow.0

Nope, iTunes only works with Windows versions XP and 2000, and you need this software to transfer the music from your computer to iPod.dk143 wrote:My PC is about 6-7 years old, and is Windows 98SE.
Personally, a decent MP3 player will do - see this thread "Which MP3?" for more information. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1363310 -
It really depends on the speed of your PC as a whole, i.e. Processor, Memory and Hard Drive because this is what is doing the bulk of the work. The USB also matters but if you have a slow Processor the USB 1 or 2 probably wouldn't matter.mr_fishbulb wrote:My girlfriend got a Video iPod for christmas and her PC only has USB 1 ports but it works. You need iTunes for your iPod and the min spec is as follows
• Windows XP or 2000 (latest service packs recommended)
• 500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
• QuickTime 7.0.4 (included)
• 256MB RAM
• Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
• Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music2 heads are better than 1….unless they are on the same body!0
