Anyone else slightly concerned about copied and pasted Malwarebytes posts?

I don't think a day goes by without seeing several copied and pasted answers whatever the problem might be.
Whatever happened to explaining what is wrong, and how to stop it happening again? Prevention is better than cure afterall.
Just a thought

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.
- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from hereand just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
- When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
- The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

I think the thing is, if you've got suspected malware on a pc, and you've got a decent tool such as MBAM, why on earth not use it ?? I'm still learning how to read and interpret both MBAM and HiJackThis logs, and if you read the threads concerned I think you'll find that the advice IS given about how to prevent future occurrances as much as possible, even if that advice may not be what people want to hear (e.g. the current spate of infections through Limewire, facebook, bebo, et al....
With respect, I think it may be a little disheartening to the likes of Browntoa, Reluctant_Spender, RIK and others who do their level best to help out people with problems to read your view of the world.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
If people dont wish to follow our advice, thats entirely upto them.........
What do you think we do with them? Do you think we're taking the p*ss or something?:idea:0 -
the thing is... this is me as a techy, but one who hasn't even heard of malware bytes...
someone asks a question, and they are told to do something. but that isn't answering the question, it is doing what nearly every spam/phishing email is doing, and telling them to click here, do this, do that, and really it is very very impersonal.
personally, what should be done, is to have malwarebytes as a sticky/post on the forum, and people are nice to people and say..
well OP, thanks for your post, i think something along the lines of this has happened, or happening, and the best bet is to follow the instructions on THIS THREAD..
exactly the same effect, but the OP knows that they are getting help, and also, getting help in english that non techies can understand (and i've seen some SHOCKING answers on here, with regards to that, but that's another thread in itself!)0 -
Well. I do agree with a lot of that actually (Though me personally, i couldnt care less WHAT you have on your computer so long as its not REALLY dodgy)
But as I dont run the site, I dont have a say.
In terms of how I do things ~ its because I use my OWN time and will therefore ask for whatever I feel id be happiest doing. If the OPs not happy doing that, thats entirely upto them.
Whilst people continue to ask for help, ill help them however I can:idea:0 -
does the original come from browntoa?
oh, and if AVG and Norton and McAfee would get their act together and fix the 40 dollar spyware problem, MalwareBytes would not be needed.0 -
aliEnRIK... I appreciate that it is our own times being used, but surely, a quick blurb giving the OP some info of WHY they need to do a MAB scan would be a bit kinder, i'm sure you do help more than some people, who do just post the copy and paste, and then never go back to the thread to help...!!!0

Why do people get told to use mbam to fix problems?
Because it is easier than going through the registry and editing it with people to remove the stuff that they have infected their PC with by going to dodgy websites, downloading infected mp3's applications etc from peer2peer sharing sites.
Before mbam I had to visit customers sites and spend 30-40 minutes manually editing registries, startup items, deleting files restoring settings etc the list goes on so that their PC would not tell them it was infected with something and buy this to remove or what ever else they have done in the past. Now I tell them to download mbam, install it and run a full scan it fixes the problem. If you want to know the ins and outs of how PC's and windows work when it comes to infections then read and try things out like IT people do. I am more than happy to spend a full day removing spyware for people as long as they don't moan at the end of the day when I hand them the bill for my time. 90% of problems I am getting at the moment are due to spyware, it is a pain but we need to deal with it.
The posting of hijackthis logs and mbam logs does actually make the manual removal of spyware more difficult after all the old school way of searching the web to find out what the unknown startup items are now just comes up with pages of HJT and mbam logs.0 -
ok i'm sticking my oar in here again..
personally, i have nothing against telling people to do a MalwareBytes scan, but my main issue, is with the, in a way, arrogance, of just putting a very generic reply up, that is copied and pasted, which in a way, could put off someone who could be scared of computers..
Be nice to moneysavers.. maybe just personalise it, and suggest they do it, and give them the details, not just go, copy, paste, and leave me alone, kinda response I FEEL that they get!
give the OP's at least a 1 or 2 line sentance saying,
Hi, I think there could be some spyware/malware etc on your machine, which is stopping you doing what you want to do, so I'd suggest you do the following, any problems, let us know!
there we go.. copy and paste that, and add it into the beginning of the stuff people post now, and it just feels nicer! rather than the sentance that says
"Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop. "
it just feels kinda off putting, and bear in mind, i'm a techie anyway!
nuffsaid me thinks
