Jumble Sales?

Evening all :)

Just wondering... this board is called Ebay, Car Boot and Jumble Sales, but I can't find anything posted about jumble sales! Does anyone go to Jumble Sales? Are they worth going to - do you find anything useful at them? And how do you find out when/where they're on? :)

    Thanks Zen! :)

I remember going to them with my gran when I was younger and they were always really busy with old people all pushing one another out the way!

What sort of things do you buy at them?

I haven't seen or been to a jumble sale for many many years, it does bring back memories though.

Here where I live it is all smart table top sales and indoor car boot sales (on trestle tables) with private sellers rather than just heaps of donated items.

I've bought things ranging from books for as little as 5p, right up to tech such as a Gamecube and a few games for just £5 the lot :) It's quite hit an miss, and a lot of the stuff will be complete crud...but rummage around and you will unearth gems.

I think I'd quite like to go to one now, if only I could find one!
From my memories with my gran, she used to get lots of stuff, and I think they would be a bit of fun too (wondering if the old grannies still all fight to get to the stuff?!) :P
I've been looking for one in my rough area but can't seem to find anything at all... :(

I used to love these when I was a child - about 20 years ago. They had really good ones in our village. Never seem to see them nowadays, do they not do them so much in towns or is no one interested anymore?
We used to get lots of clothes and fabrics for next to nothing, I would cut them up and make them into different things. A lot of the clothes were still in great condition and we wore jumble sale clothes a lot.

Sometimes they are called "Table Sales" or "Indoor Car Boot Sales" if you are searching the local ads

  • I manage to get some quite random things at JS's (as our family call them) like a box of about 200 of those supposidly 'magical' fish that curl up when u put them into your hand for about 20p and a big bag of Cathedral City keyrings for about 50p. Theyre pretty good if uve got time to kill but are not common in this winter season. Start up again in march(ish)

  • I LOVE Jumble sales. Ones near me usually start in the Spring and i've had some great bargains. Usually single items are 20p (ish) or fill a bin bag for a fiver. (Top tip - I always take my own super strong extra heavy duty bin bag as the ones they hand out tear easily and don't hold so much).

I love jumble sales, too! There isn't any on this weekend and I'm at a complete loss as to what to do with myself.
