Cheapest razor blades

Hello - I'm interested to hear people's experiences with mens razor blades.

What do you find are the cheapest and most effective blades?

Obviously own brands like Tesco's razors etc are cheaper but I find they arn't very good.

Cheers!

  • My OH only uses the mach3 blades and the cheapest place I have found to buy them is off ebay, about £4 for a 5 pack.

I use the Tesco disposable ones, and personally I think they are very good, as long as you use a decent shaving gel.

I bought some from e-bay - wasn't sure if they were fakes or not? Compare the blade with a shop bought one and they are slightly different? Whats your thoughts?

  • I know this is s Money Saving Site, but when i purchased Fusion Power Blades from a powerseller on ebay, they were fake and they cut my face up.

I would recomend that you purchase your blades when stores have offers on them, or when they offer like 2 extra blades with packs of four.

Saying that i got a free King of Shaves razor with the new Black Shaving gel (£4) and to be fair it was a good shave but not enought to temp me away from Gillette.

My advice is with the Razors, is to only purchase from the shops, such as asda/boots - that way you are getting genuine blades and not the cheap fakes.

I find that cheap asdas own are ok for shaving with the grain of the hair - it leaves a little shadow but is better than paying out lots for a better one.

On a side note, I have found my wife's expensive razor lasts a lot longer than male equivalents - maybe as they are made for cutting a higher amount of hair (e.g.g two whole legs), but the one blade I secretly used was perfect for months and months!
  • @ Bruffy Boy - nice, I'll have to get myself a wife.

Yeah I'd heard about people getting them off ebay but whats that about! Who are these random people selling razor blades - sounds a bit dodge that to me. Thanks for your replys.

People buying genuine blades at wholesale prices and selling them on eBay for a small profit is hardly dodgy

A lot of Ebay ones are fake. I've had the same experience, although I did once get some good ones. Not worth the risk.

I find those 5 blade ones are total overkill and way too expensive. The most important thing when shaving is to make sure the hair is properly wet first - it's best to shave after having a shower or bath as the hair is saturated then and cuts much smoother.

Razor blades pricing is very dodgy though imo, Gillette should be done for price fixing imo. Same with Lynx deoderant.
