Should i Pay my phone bill?

Hi
I am new here so please bare with me.
Right 3 months back my 18 month contract with vodafone ended and turned into a monthly rollover contract. I had been cut off by this point, all outgoing calls blocked, due to an unpaid bill. I left this until the following month by which time i had decided to cancel my contract all together, originally i was searching for a new contract with an old contract buyout incentive.
I presumed i could do this over the phone however was told i had to have it in writing. so i did this and had to wait another month for my contract had completely been cancelled.
That toatls 3 months without being provided a service by vodafone. Now i have been sent a bill for these 3 months equating to £120+.
My argument is i shouldnt pay it because they have provided no service and this period was outside my original contract agreement. But where does the law come into it? Do i have any legal right to refuse to pay this, the last thing i want is baliffs turning up on my doorstep.
Any help appreciated, thanks in advance!

The 18 month contract turned into a rolling month contract so you agreed those terms. You would always have to cancel a contract in writing. Otherwise any Tom, !!!!!! or Harry could pretend to be you and cancel it.
Had you arranged a payment plan with them. T-Mobile will arrange a payment amount with you and charge a nominal line rental amount. Therefore you would not have been paying the contractual £40 each month.
They have provided you with a service but you broke your terms by not paying the bill when it was due. So they have done you a favour by not allowing you to incrue more debt with them.
I do not think you can legally avoid this. Ring them and make an arrangement to pay with them. They will possibly do the same as T-mobile and charge £10 until the debt is cleared.0 -
Afraid Totallybroke is correct. You were in breach of contract by not paying, call them and make an arrangement as soon as you can, if this gets passed to a collections agency the amount will rocket and it'll screw your credit for the next 7 years. . .0
