It is more than likely done automatically and so it is unlikely that they could put a stop message on the system and that sort it out. Also the previous poster is correct that after you close the account it stays "open" for some time to allow people you have set up DDs and the like to to claim them.

The case I read was about 3 years since the account had been "closed". And on average I think it is about 2 years.

    So a long time.

Looks like people are talking about 2 different products.

I work for LTSB in one of the contact centres.

The original post is about a Platinum credit card. There is no charge for a platinum credit card and this is Lloyds best APR. I cannot think of a reason you would want to downgrade to a classic card. There is no benefit of doing this. The only difference between the classic and the platinum is the APR rate - with the platinum APR being 3 % lower than the classic.

A platinum CURRENT account costs £15 a month. A classic current account is free.

Phone LTSB and they can downgrade your current account from a Platinum to a classic over the phone there and then. (Although someone will try and talk you out of it).

As far as I know you cannot downgrade a Platinum credit card to a classic credit card. But there is no reason why anyone would want to do this.

    Hope This Helps.
