N95-1 replacement - which phone next?
Hi All,
Happy New Year
My tired old N95 is due to be replaced now and I'm wondering what phone i should get in its place.
I'm a bit of a Nokiafreak and since getting my first mobile phone 15 or so years ago, I've only ever had a Nokia. But that's not to say i wouldn't be tempted to try out something different.
My N70 was brilliant and also i've really enjoyed (mostly!) the N95, though slowness, battery life etc have been a bit of a PITA.
Anyway, I'm in need of help to replace my N95-1.
If you were me, which phone would you go for? Another Nokia or another better brand!?
Another limitation is that I'm on t-mobile (so that will probably severely restrict the choices in reality, but for this purpose you can ignore that!)
Though I have been told this morning that there will be a bunch of new phones out by the end of Jan (I am quite interested in the 5800)
I don't really want to pay more than £100 for the new phone (on upgrade not unlocked RRP), but i would like it to be as functional as the N95. Music, Internet Browser, Memory card etc.
So there you go! If you were me, what phone would you get next?
I'd love to get your views and opinions.
Thanks :rotfl:

N95 8GB is a good replacement. However it is about £150 on ebay for a okish condition.0

Nokia N96? Not sure if it is on T-Mobile, but if you are happy with the N95 this seems the logical next step. Should be available free as an upgrade depending on your tariff and monthly spend.0

Hmm am a bit sceptical that it actually is the next logical step TBH.
Everything i've heard about that phone is that its pretty disappointing and isn't the upgrade from the N95 that everyone had hoped for.
Granted it has more storage capabilities and a TV Tuner but it's very slow and also uses the same battery as the N95, plus it's definately not free on t-mobile (they quoted me £140 in sept)
I appreciate your opinion though, which phone do you have?0 -
Nokia 6220 is N95 with no wifiSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

I have the sony ericsson C902. nice looking phone, but not very man friendly. Already dropped one in a glass of squash, and dropped this one in the chicken counter at Sainsbury's last week! Too skinny and slippery!
I was going to go for the N96 but heard similar things, then decided to go for a cheaper tariff than getting the best phone as after the first month, all I do is call and txt!
The reason I suggested the N96 is that you liked the N95, so it seemed the logical step. However, I dont know that much about the phone. I've always been a Sony Ericsson man myself.0 -

Thats a good phone, and it's feature pack 2 (or is it 3?).
I still think though your best bet would be a N95 8GB - it's not that much different to a N95 - BUT it will keep you happy untill the next Nokia phone.
Also the battery lasts much longer on it than the N95.
However if you want something a little different try the Samsung INOV8 - it runs symbian (just like N95) and has a much better spec and it's a far better replacement than an N96!0 -

Afraid I have to disagree with you here. I dont think the N95 8GB will keep you happy. You'd be better off just getting an 8GB card for your N95-1 instead of doing that. The only joy of the N95 8GB is the fact it has a 8GB internal memory. Major downfall is there's no room for external memory ie. memory card.
I've got an N95-1 atm and am due for upgrade soon. I am going to get the N96 as my day to day phone because I aboslubtly loved the N95 and have heard good things about them.
If you really wanted to treat yourself you could get a Vertu Acent Ti. Thats what I use at work for the 'flashness' of it LOL
I must admit to getting it free from a relative that works there though LOLThis is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
I had an N95-1 and after my contract expired searched around for about a month for a new handset, was tempted by the SE Xperia but in the end plumped for the N96 - does everything I need it to and then some, the firmware was buggy at first but now I've debranded and upgraded it works flawlessly, only negative point is the poor battery life and slightly flimsy build quality. Other than that, easily the best phone I've used.0

well thanks for all your advice so far, some interesting alternatives being suggested which i'm going to look into, as well as maybe reconsidering the N96.. Am hoping that the phones on offer from t-mobile tomorrow will help make my mind up as well!
