There is no law that states how much you should get. The SoGA only says that you should get a refund, which may include an amount to take into account how much use you have had of the product.

So, if a TV was expected to last 6 years and you paid £178, you could calculate it would cost £30 a year. As it's lasted 18 months they should deduct £45, so refund you £133. (There are other ways of calculating this, but straight line depreciation is the most straightforward).

I'd just write a straightforward letter to head office, using this calculation. See if they have more power to increase the offer.
