Best low price travel insurance

Would anyone recommend cheap travel insurance where they have actually made a claim and had good customer service?

I have always looked for the best price and made sure the most important things are covered. This worked out great until I actually had to make a claim!

Apparently my ipod has a hard-drive and is therefore not covered if it's lost or stolen. Next time I'd like a policy that actually covers things like ipods cos let's face it it's much more likely you're going to lose your ipod than your leg.

Thanks

Depends where you go, what type of hol and so on.

Could you name the Insurer as I have never heard an actual IPod not being covered. Did you check the wording to see if IPods were excluded? IPods are so common now I think everybody should know who turned down your claim.

I've used different insurers for single trip policies but never claimed. Would be interesting to know who doesn't include Ipods. I would not recommend travel-insurance-web. Cheap annual policy but they won't pay up for my claim. In case you haven't seen...

  • https://www.onestoptravelinsurance.com were the people who refused to pay up for my ipod. No I didn't check that ipods were excluded before taking it. But when I checked after they'd refused it there's no where it actually spells out that ipods won't be covered. Apparently they have 'hard drives' and therefore aren't covered.
  • So which companys insurance cover Ipods, mobile phones and digital camera's?

Most only insure upto £300 valuables, these 3 alone are worth £650+

Could understand them not paying out for damage, but can't see the link between hard drives and theft..

Had a look through my InsureAndGo policy - no exclusions for disks (limit on 'valuables' is £400 on their Gold policy btw), however I've never claimed, so dunno how good/bad they may be.
  • Also looking for good cheap travel insurance. We went with esure at xmas, after I had just recieved a PSP with games for xmas - which where all stolen from my suitcase on return flight. However when I came to claim I was told I need a crime reference number & receipts or proof of purchase for the PSP - which I had got for xmas and didnt have the receipt for. I had the original box etc, but this isnt good enough. Can anybody recommend any insurance companies which, should I need to make a claim - will be a bit more helpful.

    Needs to cover:
    PSP - £180
    5 games - £180 (bought £30 each)
PSP Datel Hard drive - £150
    MP3 Player - £30
    Samsung E720 (£150ish)
    Samsung E530 (£150ish)
PDA (for Sat Nav - £100)
    Camcorder - £200
Luggage - No Idea!! at least £500 a case (2 people)

Makes total just over £2000, so £2000 cover should be ok.

Everything else should be standard - but I need at least £2000 valuable cover with max for each item being £200 + Cases.

Also, I take the PDA with me but leave the sat nav part in my car.
  • Can anyone recommend any decent insurance that would cover me for the above. Im not expecting to claim for everything but would like to be covered for the worst case scenario.

    Cheers, Shane
