Even if it wasn't fully closed it has a secondary safety catch that should have prevented it's release.

They have said the secondary catch was distorted which is why it didnt hold. How can i fight back on that we have had alot of issues with the car recently -was involved in an accident.

I drive a 99 Clio and had a recall letter early last year. As part of my maintenance routine I have always smothered the catch in grease anyway.

Got to the dealers who opened the bonnet, wiped off all my lovely grease and sprayed a bit of WD40 type stuff on it and sent me on my way!! Had to get home and re grease everything grrrrr

The most irritating thing was I got yet another letter around November last year telling me I hadn't been back for the recall!!

But that is something that should not have happened unless the car has been in a front end accident, it is poor design/manufacture by Renault, so it is their fault.

I've been delivering loads of recall notices from Renault recently. They are sent out recorded delivery in a long white envelope.

My accident happened in August, acar ploughed into the drivers side of my car, it wasnt at high speed though -do you think that could have affected it.

Renault have said its down to poor maintenance which i know is not the case. The car was with a garage after the accident (though it had to be sent back when something wasnt fitted properly). WE have been driving back and forth from Wales to England alo recently so we've been treating thecar well.

HOw can iprove its their fault though?

Barnabee - do they always send it recorded delivery? That would work well for me iftheysay the sent out aletter.

I think its probably the "get out clause" the dealer will use unfortunately

Can't confirm if they all go out recorded unfortunately and I can't remember if they originated from the Head Office of Renault UK or from just a local dealer. If I see any more in the very near future I'll post here. If possible I might even ask the customer to tell me what the exact recall is about.
