Because I Googled for this kind of subject after a similar current issue with Egg where due to my card being lost my replacement card did not have its balance cleared by my usual direct debit. So they text messaged me but as I am reading that message on my mobile my landline phone rings with one of their people on and he tells me it is all fine now and he has arranged for the £300 outstanding in July to be collected on the August payment (when the new direct debit will be in effect) and he will diarise himself to remove all interest or other similar charges.
Then half an hour later the phone rang with another Egg guy who didn't know about the earlier call but then looked up the system and confirmed the details of the call I had made and that it was all due to be taken care of.
Now a week later stupid Egg completely block my Mastercard without further calls and refuse to let me use secure messaging to contact them even though I am abroad (where phone calls are expensive) and say because this is now in the hands of the payment department I must speak only by phone to the Collections Department. But when you are overseas calls to a UK mobile number costs mega bucks, especially to 0845 numbers.
So I found this thread and came across Norm's very unhelpful comments quite clearly only intended to try and put down another member by suggesting everything was his fault and not that of Egg. To my mind there are too many of these smug members on the forum who do not try to help but who only try to tick off members who are genuinely looking for assistance.0
