My only advice re backpacks is to buy a few combination padlocks and try to take as little as possible as you have to carry it! quote]
thats a great tip thanks! i already have a couple, so i will check out if thats enough! yeah im hopefully going to travel as light as i can, i want to take my snorkel and mask for snorkelling though, i think i will be generally taking shorts and denim skirts with t shirts, leggings and hoodies etc
Going to start piecing things together this weekend!
What would you advise about taking currency? ive been told to take pounds and change them over there?? im hesitant to take too much cash on me, but i will see.

Im back from thailand! very brown (the brownest ive ever been according to my mum!) and in one piece!
Im also excited to have broken the 136k barrier!
I've spent a fair bit on thailand but have covered it out of my rent payments and salary and therefore have not needed to dip into the mortgage but i wont be overpaying this month for obvious reasons!
Good news though, alliance and leicester have offered me £923 for misselling me payment protection insurance! so thats either going into my isa or mortgage.. not for good though, for the next holiday, i deserve my treats!Mortgage free wannabe!:

its the best ive found so far! i wear a lot of black so not too sure about the rubbing off but i wore a white t shirt yesterday, i can check it when i get home if you want?!
they also do the one with shimmer which is great as it has tiny flecks of gold in it, great for going out! its quite cheap in tesco at the moment too, i swear by it, it helps me look better and helps me be good to myself by moisturising! (well thats how i justify it!!)
give it a whirl and see what you think, a girls got to look her best!:DMortgage free wannabe!:

May's update:
Well im back, ive been out and about enjoying myself way too much! a weekend in brighton and last months holiday in thailand (which were amazing!!) have left me overpayment free for two months which is frustrating me a bit now
so i need to get back onto the action!
I've also had a broken tv and microwave to deal with so the finances have been a little dented! trying not to fritter away the money i have gained from PPI repayment so im going to put it directly in my ISA so i can't touch it.
I have a few busy weekends coming up with lots of gigs, morrissey this week, oasis in a couple of weeks and a trip to newcastle before next payday... eek as its a five weekend month. Then t in the park and glastonbury next month, so im trying hard to rid myself of the credit card bill i had from my thailand flights.
So here's my plan:
1. this months rent is going to clear the credit card and next months mortgage overpayment so im back on track with my overpayments.
2. im starting to make lunches again to save pennies
3. i have ordered the heroes 1-2 boxset so keep me in and avidly watching (only cost 18 on other mse thread)
4. I have started to look into the prospect of getting promos sorted for my radio show so i don't have to spend so much money on music
5. I have a few bits and pieces that im thinking of ebaying/sticking on work classifieds
6. I have not been saving for yearly bills and holidays due to me going on so many holidays (lucky i know! mexico, amsterdam, thailand and brighton since october - and no, i've not got swine flu!), so i intend to start saving these next payday even though ill be using the holiday spends for next months festivals!
7. get my slowcooker out!!
8. advance train tickets to glasgow only cost me 30 pounds which is great, festival tickets all paid for, car sharing to glasto too.
Not foolproof but every little helps!
Also my garden is looking terrible so i need to spend a lot of time and a bit of money on it, going to see what i can on a budget!! any tips?!
two of my three garden gates are broken too which needs spends, one of them has actually fallen off
eek...
I guess in summary i have to remember to keep a balance, have fun but still prioritise things on the house and the mortgage. But im young free and single and want to have a life too, looking back maybe i shouldn't have spent £12k renovating the house, but the house looks tip top inside and i guess hindsight is a wonderful thing
