even just writing this and reading it back makes me realise how silly it sounds, i just need to c abit of weightloss, up until weighing myself i was feeling great the best i have in a very long time!
You know what? I think the weighing scales are our enemies. You felt fab, food was enjoyable, you saw a glimpse of what it was like to eat naturally and be thin, and then guilt about what the pesky scales said hit you!
I am exactly the same, I can so sympathise. But I figure that, I'm 40 years old. I can definitely afford to give myself ninety days - one quarter of the year - to finding out if this system works. If it doesn't, by October I will at least have *stabilised* in my attitude towards food, and given my body a break from binge/purge and dieting/overeating. This feels like the healthiest I have ever been, I don't know about you, but I feel - liberated. I've started to notice that I just don't fancy some things that are around me, that I thought I would have done. Someone brought in cakes from holiday to work, and they looked....nasty. Whereas for my tea, I have just had these thai fishcakes, some hot spicy sauce, antipasta, olives and feta, salad, humus. I was NOT trying to make a 'healthy' dinner, or count calories/points. But looking back, it was actually really healthy and delicious, and I just enjoyed it so much.
I dunno, Luc, I'm giving this a proper trial to see if it works - so far, it's the best I've ever felt and I'm losing weight. I guess try not to weigh yourself more than once a fortnight if that, and focus on being thin! I find the CD helps a lot too, as well. Sounds like you're doing really well, I have to say.
Good luck!0 -
I second what Honey says, you really must try to stay away from the pesky scales as much as possible, and definitely do not weigh yourself more than once every couple of weeks (less if you can stand it). I know that my weight was all over the place at one stage and I realised that it wasn't really helping me focus so I pit the scales somewhere not easily accessible. Now, I am much happier.
This isn't really a quick way of losing weight. I think that some people, if they've been overeating a lot (like I was in in the end) find that they do lose a few pounds quickly quite naturally at the beginning. It does slow right down after that, and although that is a bit frustrating, it is a better way all round. The way I look at it, I didn't get fat in a few weeks, so it's going to take time to get slim again. I know that we all want it to happen quickly, but think of committing to these 90 days as a sort of investment in your health and future. It's not that long and if you don't lose enough quickly enough then you can always try something else afterwards, although I bet I know which method will keep the weight off for longer.0 -
I too have noticed the past few days my obsession with the scales has been creeping back. And my weight has fluctuated by around 3lbs! I mean it's such a stupid way to measure your success when it changes so much in 24 hours! I think the reason I want to weigh myself is on the Baby Weightloss thread they all post their losses and I can't do that so it feels like I am not getting anywhere IYSWIM. Am feeling the need to keep up with them all which is sooooooooooooo stupid it's untrue
Anyhow been struggling a little with the eating slowly, just been really busy with the kids etc. I knew it was this area that would let me down on so must try and think to myself "chew 20 times". That helps me slow down and of course will aid my digestion.

In effect you have lost everything. whereas if you focus on doing the right things to get in that size 10 dress weight doesnt matter because it is shape that counts. muscle weighs more than fat so if you exercise and tone your body up you may get thinner but heavier. Dont forget diets are created by people whoi want your money. PM included:D
Sadly exercise is nothing more than a mere fantasy with me at the moment :rotfl:
I am not so niave to think that PM isn't out to make money, it's his business. However a one off purchase of a book (which I didn't pay full price for) compared to weekly cost of WW,SW, Cambridge/Lighter Life PM is by far the cheapest and I don't need to buy "special" foods, unlike WW who push their own products.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

I've read that thread, I read a lot of the weight loss threads- I find them fascinating and hard to stay away from, even if I fundamentally disagree with their methods in some of them I still get something from them.
They seem like a nice bunch of girls on the baby weight club, and as they're are all following different methods couldn't you sort of briefly explain that this plan doesn't encourage you to weigh yourself too much as it could work against weight loss?
I know that it can sound a little bit odd to the uninitiated but I'm sure they'd understand that you want to follow 'the rules' if you put it that way, because if there's one thing all dieters get drummed into them it's the blimmen rules .
Anyway, give it a go, and maybe you could measure your progress by another marker. I tend to see which clothes I can now fit into and look OK in. Ultimately, although it's (sneakily) nice to be beating other people in the weight loss stakes, you're doing this for yourself so that you are healthier and more comfortable in your own skin and as long as you're still moving forward on that journey it really doesn't matter whether you're first or last in the pound loss 'race'.
.....And anyway, without wanting to sound mean, anyone who loses weight super fast has a bigger chance of putting it all back on.

I have a glimmering that this could be something that I could see myself following for the rest of my life; rather than a diet, which is not how I would normally like to eat. I think that's why I'm so keen on it.
I'm in my third week, and I am noticing some big differences. I feel better around food. My fridge is full of nice food. Lots of tit bits and leftovers and stuff! I don't feel deprived or like I'm waiting to have lost enough weight then I can have a blow-out.
I would say that everyone I know who has lost a lot of weight by dieting (I include myself), *EVERYONE*, has put it back on. That's why I think this might work long-term, because there is no emphasis at all on eating what you think you should (low fat food, high fat, low carb etc etc).
I like this thread a lot, so hope everyone is finding it good too!0 -

The girls on the Baby Weightloss are a lovely bunch and I have explained that I am not weighing myself so its not presssure from them - sadly it's all me :rotfl: I like the fact that we have a common goal in getting slimmer and that how we do it makes no difference but I also like this thread as I can discuss PMK and how I am going with you guys.
I am secretly a competitive person which is at odds with most of my ethos of being so laid back I am horizontal :rotfl: hence the need to feel like I am keeping up with themLike I said it's so stupid it's untrue.
Anyway I am in no danger of turning to a diet now so I'll either stay as I am or I'll get slimmer. Either way I won't be making myself too miserable in the process.
My friend is doing Cambridge and she's lost lots of weight but the thought of having a shake, a lunch bar and a soup for tea makes me  That's all just 600 calories - I can't believe she's willing to pay the best part of £40 to starve herself. Why no do it for free and save the money for a pair of Uggs

I saw an article online this morning- some woman who has written 28(!) books about diets and dieting now revealing that she thinks, and questioning why, with all today's information and resources, are we are fatter than ever. Interesting reading..

I see that there has been some debate on whether the diet and eating plan threads should have their own sub board on the forum.
I couldn't care less one way of the other, except to say that a) was there ever a forum which is quite so bothered about what goes where and who says what to whom than MSE? They seems to spend more time talking about what happens on the board than many other subjects.... and b) (playing devils advocat) as this is not a diet, where do we fit in?
Anyway, am off to work now. I may just walk the last couple of miles, I'm dressed the part, I'll see how I feel when I get there....0 -
Bayblue I know what you mean. Sometimes I find too many boards off putting, it can be a real minefield! I too am not bothered as long as this thread is still running.
Enjoy your walk to work!!! Will have a nose at the article when I don't have a 12 month old demanding little clinging to my legs!!!!
Been back on track since yesterday although I still don't drink enough water. I downloaded a free app for my ipod for drinking 8 glasses a day. Am yet to use it......oops. Might head off and drink some now actually whilst I am thinking about it.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
