Please don't try and kill me for asking this
I had read somewhere here in the forum, in one of the threads, that you can claim the valeting charges, for cleaning your private car -which is used for business purposes. this is on top of the to the 40p/mile which you are claiming. Please direct me in the right direction.
is this allowed or not acceptable
also wanted to add that car is used for travel for business purposes on a daily basis( NOT home to work, but car an intergral part of the job)
any help appreciated

If you're self-employed, my understanding is that you can offset expenses necessarily incurred for your business against your profits. How necessary is a valeted car for your business?Signature removed for peace of mind0

there are times when I need to pick clients up on the way to meetings and keeping the car tidy always is a business necessity. I wouldn't have kept the car this tidy, esp the interiors, if not for these meetings, which I cannot avoid going to0

If you are self employed, a business expense does not have to be necessary, it merely has to be incurred in the course of running the business. Therefore if you incur car valeting charges in the course of business, these ar allowable for tax purposes.
However, your question does not make it clear whether you are an employee or self employed.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -
thanks Fengirl,
I'm working under a Ltd Company, as is the sole director. I guess, i'm not an employee and I do self assessment for my tax returns as a self employed.
does that make sense0
