pin numbers only from January?

I know that my Sainsbury's store at least won't be using C&P until February.

And I can't wait for the uneducated and forgetful people who go shopping, get to the till and don't know their PIN. I think I'm right to say that they've had to 'stupid people proof' the system for a while so the card and still be swiped for a time after it's officially introduced across the country.

At least the re-issuing of PINs will keep the Royal Fail in business a bit longer to not deliver our post.

Well, I was in a shop on Friday (at MacArthur Glen outlet park nr Bridgend) and they had a sign up saying that they were only accepting CHIP & PIN cards now.

I pointed out that this was a bit premature because many companies hadn't even issued the new cards and they said "we've got the new machine and there's no over-ride capability so if you can't produce a CHIP & PIN card, hard luck".

I think something's gone wrong in the training there, somehow. For a major thing, what about those who can't do PIN because they are disabled? And for a minor thing, what about those who just haven't got a PIN card yet. D'oh!
