    Juliebookworm.. there is no such thing as luck.. good or bad.. there is good fortune and misfortune.. nothing you do or do not do changes anything.. my 6 year old putting an umbrella up in the house did not cause my cooker to burst into flame.. that was DS2.. breaking a mirror did not make my hubby's cousin die.. that was illness... everything has a cause and an effect.. though if you leave the decs out... I'll make you dust them!!

    Back form college.. off to pub.... blooming DNA.. piece of the pee....

    Little cousin is hopefully coming home at the weekend now he is feeding well...

    ~~~~~~~~Healing vibes for s-girl's friends LO... ~~~~~~~~~~
    nicki/GnB... so when the ortho's were on about DD4 having a 'back brace' for her curly spine due to differing leg lengths causing the body to twist that is what they were on about??? :confused: I think I'd be a bit sad.. it looks like a burden for a teeny body.
    Off to pub see you later!
    Have fun at the pub pigpen, and know that you are multitasking if you decide to drink bitter - you are cleaning your teeth at the same time! :rotfl:
    I agree with the luck thing - we make our own luck in this world - if things happen it's because of something else going wrong - I went bankrupt because I didn't sort my finances properly, not because I walked under a ladder! ;)
    My floordrobe (well, clean clothes on the bedroom chair) took about 2 minutes, so while I'm on a roll, rather than running my bath straight away I'm going to make a start on my letters!
    Ended up watching a film with Wesley Snipes in (Murder at 1600) - haven't seen it before and it was really good. I'm not normally into action or political films, so was surprised I liked it. OH fell asleep so went off to bed, which is where I'm off to now.
    Night all, will try to catch up on some more flying tomorrow, and if necessary, I can have a major flying session at the weekend.
    Its possible, but there are different types, there are just corset style ones as well. The consultant decides what's what - mine was for an S-curved spine due to scoliosis. Its not that bad really and I think they've made improvements to them. Mine was massive, it went from the middle of my hips(so it rested on the chair when I sat down) to about an inch shy of my underarm, it was shaped so it didn't press on my pubicbone, was cut out at the front so I could sit down, and cut under my bust as well. I got it when I was in year 7 and wore it until I was in year 9/10 then I refused to wear it as I was so uncomfortable and being a typical teen ;)
    The downsides were
    • if it was a really hot day (and in school one wall of all the classrooms were windows with the sun streaming through nearly all day so it got HOT) it got uncomfortable and made me feel like I was going to pass out
    • sometimes it rubbed like mad (especially when I was hot) so I had to have surgical spirit applied to my skin in areas where it rubbed slightly to toughen up the skin
    • sometimes if it hadn't been put on properly or it had worked loose when I sat down I could feel it lift up - like wearing a hard tube
    • I was supposed to wear it for 23 out of 24 hours - That was one bit I really hated, so I didn't stick to it
    • It was a little uncomfortable wearing it, especially at bed time, and top bunks unless rails are on it are a definite no-no, it hurts a lot to fall from a top bunk while wearing one! :o Even more so when you're asleep when you do it and its the impact with the floor that wakes you up! :eek: The carpet burns hurt as well :rotfl:
    On the positive side
    • I didn't do PE at all throughout secondary school (but I did have to take on the ref or scorekeeper role instead :rolleyes:) but I think they've changed this now
    • I got to "play on it" and get out of class claiming I was "too hot and needed to cool down & have a drink" whenever I got bored or didn't want to do the work - not often mind, just occasionally.;) Oh, and I always needed a friend to come with me just incase I did faint :o:rotfl:
    • I had a wonderful profile figure ;):rotfl:
    • When people physically picked on me, they tended to go for the hitting of the torso...it only happened a few times before they realised it hurt to hit me ;) Although "lets see how hard we can hit Nicki in the stomach before hurting ourselves" did become quite an amusing pastime for some of my male friends :rolleyes::rotfl: I found it quite amusing too, but it toughened me up ;)
    • It was extremely amusing when a lad who used to go to my school, but left before I got my brace, ran across the park and tried to jump on my back for a piggyback :rotfl::rotfl: My brace was not only very hard plastic, it also had 3 (or was it 4?) large plastic straps (like you get on rucksacks to adjust the straps) going right down the back and he hit at least 1 of them ;) He had a strange walk on the way home that night :rotfl::rotfl: I however had stitches from laughing so hard :o:rotfl:
    But that is just my experience. When I found out I was going to have to wear one, I read a book by Judy Blume called "Deenie" (Wikipedia entry here ) and it helped to know that other people (even if it was just in a book) were going through similar feeling of hating the brace and the fact that they stood out.
    If your DD4 does get one, no matter how uncomfortable or singled out she may feel I would highly recommend her wearing it as much as she is told to, or as much as she can stand, it gets easier over time ;). I didn't and I still suffer with back problems which may or may not have been solved by the back brace. :o
    Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
    Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
