Curtains for a childs bedroom.

Hi I have placed this thread here as I suspect many people will have the same problem as me. This way any good deals can be posted here and they will be able to find a good deal. (Gawd am I making any sense here)

Any ways my daughter only has paper thin curtains and they let in loads of light. I am needing a cheap lined or black out curtains for her room. The ones that I have found are way too expensive, so at the moment she has my curtains.

Can any one help?

We were in Dunelm Mill yesterday. They have a sale on at the moment & have quite a few curtains, including black out ones, reduced.

  • Keep an eye out in Next Clearence. Just before xmas they had shelves full in the Bletchley store. Next curtains are really thick and luxurious. I got a Charlie and Lola pair for £7.00 and their own design blackout ones for a girls room for £9.00. Absolutley gorgeous. They certainly stop those draughts! Price on the labels were £49.00 and £54.00

    Maybe find something here.

  • Are the curtains any good - do you need to replace them?

If not it is a fairly easy job to line them if you can sew and have a sewing machine. I am sure you could find instructions on the internet. Failing this, do you have a friend with a sewing machine and basic sewing ability?

The curtains can be lined but need to check they will fit her window as we switched rooms.

Just looked on Next and little woods but the price is too high and that is the sale.

I lined most of our bedroom curtains with the cheap fleece blankets from Ikea. They're something like £1.50 each, and two of them will cover a good-sized window. Mine are just pinned to the curtains right now, but I'll sew them into place next time I take the curtains down for washing. Also the blankets are light, so you don't need to worry about extra weight on the hooks/rods.
