I was going to say me too but I wouldn't test drive our car when we bought it. I'm certainly not going to do one for a MS! Im such a wimp!

Can you cancel the furniture and reorder?!

It's coming tomorrow! Actually I just checked, one of the items is showing as OOS now, so good job I ordered when I did.

Aw poor you, have you tried putting in another address, like your parents perhaps, then adding your postcode as an area visited frequently? (naughty I know!):o

The one I have to test drive is a lot bigger than my car, hope I don't scare the salesman too much:eek:

MFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!

  • I'm tired! Have moved all the slate that was delivered yesterday (when i say I mean mainly hubby, although I was good at directing proceedings!).

New bedroom furniture was delivered at 08:30:eek:. Just need to empty the old ones and build the new ones now! I can recomend the Tesco delivery men, they took all the boxes upstairs:j

Managed to pick up two MS for Monday, maybe a third in the offing, just need to work out the timing now.

    Think I need a little nap now:D

  • Ok, got hubby to update offset and we are currently running at 58.17% against the mortgage (roughly:rolleyes:):j Not bad considering we have only been here for 38 months and its only really this year that we have knuckled down seriously to saving. So another 36 months and we should be done and dusted.
We have always been fairly good with our money but needed to spend a fair bit updating this house. The kitchen is really dire (i've probably mentioned it before) but to be honest its thats bad its almost funny! We have had a change of heart on doing any extension (I think at some point we will move:rolleyes: rather than extend). I think we will have to do the kitchen sometime fairly soon (next 12 months or so) but we will not be spending mega bucks on it.

The garden is now managable, we have decorated everywhere upstairs and changed the bathroom, the living room is sorted so it really is just the kitchen/dining room........hmmmmm i've got new kitchen ideas running through my head now:eek:.

Today has been a bit mad, two big MSs done and three hours in 'normal work'. The house looks like its been hit by a hoard of very messy people (we made up the new bedroom furniture yesterday and it took much longer than anticipated - hence the drawers are still empty, the contens are all over the floor, spare bed, landing...etc, you getting the picture???) I really cannot be arfarfed to doing anything tonight so I guess it will stay looking like a pig tip!

Oh poop, just remembered the washing is still on the line........

I must not look at lovely kitchens,
I must not look at lovely kitchens,
I must not look at lovely kitchens...

I hate my kitchen with a passion... Who the *@%& voluntarily puts artex on some of the WALLS! :wall: The units are out of the dark ages and the kitchen sink matches the cooker - a particularily "lovely" shade of brown!  :rotfl: Don't get me started on the plumbing either...

Sadly my bathroom is even worse (very tired avocado evilness ) and is only just functional so that wins out on the 1st to be done up stakes! 10 days till payday and finally hitting my bathroom renovation fund target! :j Guess who will be looking at bathroom stuff ASAP! :j :rotfl:

It'll have to be someone in! I need to get the suite replaced - bath and toilet in the same place, new shower, tiling etc, sink a few cm over a bit which should all be ok... But I need to get a MASSIVE (lead ) cold water tank removed as its no longer needed and takes up a massive amount of the volume of the bathroom as its above the door as you go in making ~1/3 of the bathroom have a very low ceiling. (That costs well over £1k+ to remove on its own ). Problem is in removing the tank I'll need to change the plumbing in the kitchen too (washing machine/dishwasher etc fill from the tank not mains  like they should be), move some of the mains water piping in my flat and plaster at least part of the hall too where the hatch into the tank is. The bathroom will need replastering too as the plaster is in a fairly poor state. I'll need to move my phone line into my flat too as for some very odd reason it enters my flat just above my bath with the 1st box screwed onto the tiles ~ 60cm above my bath  (the line in also prevents my bathroom window from closing 100% and the small junction box regularly gets wet which can't be good). :wall: The window may also need to be replaced as it is very draughty (origional 100yr+ old sash window) but moving the phone line may be enough to make it close properly and be renovatable rather than needing changed altogether.

I also need to decide what I want to do in my kitchen (and when I want to do it) before moving / changing the pipes and phone line as
    (a) the phoneline will need to enter here so I need to know where is safe to put it that so it wont need moving again soon!
    (b) the units will have to be moved to sort the plumbing out along with part of the floor having to be lifted which will mean my kitchen will be in an even worse state than now
    (c) I'd quite like to move my kitchen into my dining recess at the other end of the room (and possibly knock through into my boxroom to make it larger though this'll probably not be easily possible as its a load bearing wall I think) and use the main part of the kitchen as my livingroom. Its a big room - the biggest and suniest in my flat and not used half as much as it could be. My livingroom would become the master bedroom making my flat a 2 bed flat instead of the 1 bed it is now. Half of my neighbours have done this and it works quite well and also adds a bit of value too.

Its all a bit of a snowball styleeee nightmare... start 1 thing and all the other rooms want in on it! :rotfl: Ahhhh the joys of owning a do-er upper flat...

It may well be simplest to do the bathroom AND the kitchen (next door room) at the same time and get it ALL over and done with in a oner and not have to redo/move bits twice! I'm not sure how much the combined [STRIKE]chaos[/STRIKE] renovations would cost though. I'm imagining far more than I have saved... Anyone know how much it costs to move a kitchen within the same room (ignoring the boxroom for now)?

... and breathe... :o :rotfl: Sorry TPA :o
