Continence nurses can sometimes provide the kylies or similar free, worth asking. My son gets them.
One day I might be more organised...........

I am so upset, we have recently bought a new sofa and my friends son did a wee on it yesterday :( I have tried to clean it, but it still smells of stale urine :( Could anyone please tell me if theres anything I can use to get rid of the smell?

If it is an upholstery sofa, sprinkle some bicarbonate of soda on it and leave it for a few hours to absorb and then hoover off - hopefully should do the trick.
  • If all else fails, I think that would be entirely fair & reasonable to ask your friend to pay or split the cost of a professional to help you out with this ...

I've just posted this advice to someone trying to get rid of the smell of sick. Use neat alcohol - something like vodka (test on an inconspicuous area first). The alcohol eats the enzymes in whatever has caused the smell. I've used it to get rid of the smell of sick, pee, tom cat's pee (awful smell!) and spilt milk in the car. It works really well.

Washing with biological washing powder is supposed to work well, although I'd test it on an inconspicuous area first. It works the same way as the alcohol, with the enzymes getting rid of the pong. Failing that there's something you can buy from pet shops called 'Urine Off' - I've never used it but it's supposed to be very good at gettting rid of the smell.

the neutradol powder works well, my sonwent through a stage of taking off his nappy and peeing on his carpet and that got rid of the smell. bicarb soda is suppose to be just as good.
